Edit: fixed the math, should be right now.
So I'm sure there's some of you out there who were thinking to yourself.
"God getting to rank 25 sucks dong.
How long is this gonna take?!"
(Answer at the bottom)
Well, let me help you out there
About 2500 rep to rank up a level.
25 levels to level up.
Total amount of rep required: 62500
(Using the strange coin-heavy synth strategy with xur)
Divide that by 25 (amount of rep from a heavy synth)
You get 2500
Meaning you need a total of 2500 heavy ammo synths from xur.
Divide 2500 by 3 (number of heavy synths you get per strange coin)
You get 834.
GRAND TOTAL
So to sum up you need 834 strange coins. To get that exotic mark quest.
Buy heavy ammo synths from xur.
Turn those into your faction rep.
And you should be rank 25 within the Friday or Saturday.
Edit: I know there are a bunch of passive forces that contribute to faction rep (bounties, patrol missions, faction packages, etc) so you might not need the whole set of 834 strange coins
Edit: I might do the math later for leveling up using only Variks, eris, and the gunsmith. Why? Because I'm bored to the extent where I think math is fun.
For the gunsmith
Gunsmith sells synths for 950. with the cap of 25000 glimmer you can buy a total of 26 synths.
1synth = 25 rep
26*25=650 rep
Need a total of 62500 rep
62500/650= 96 (rounded down)
Meaning you need to spend the glimmer cap a total of 96 times.
25000*96=2400000 glimmer required to get to rank 25 using only the gunsmith
For the gunsmith, with weapon parts (I'm actually not too sure on this one.I think it's right but I might messed something up.)
250 glimmer for 5 weapon parts.
need 25 parts to donate.
250*5=1250 glimmer
25 parts = 50 rep.
total of 62500 needed
62500/50=1250
meaning 1250 part donations needed.
1250*25=31250
total of 31250 weapon parts needed
31250/5=6250
meaning you have to make 6250 purchases of weapon parts to get to rank 25.
For Eris Morn
5 black wax idols for a synth
max cap of 200 for the wax, meaning a total of 40 synths per stack of wax.
1 synth=25 rep
25*40=1000 rep
total of 62500 rep need for rank 25
62500/1000=63 (rounded up)
meaning you need 63 stacks of wax
200*63=12600
Total of 12600 black wax Idols needed to reach rank 25 using only Eris.
For raids and motes
For my sake we're going to use an average of about 17 materials per run.
SO....2 raids (VoG and CE)
17 materials per run. (normal then hard on VoG and CE)
17*4=68
Total of about 68 materials.
go to the speak and covert the ascendant/radiant energy into shards, then turn those shards into motes.
2 shards needed to get 1 mote.
5 Motes = 100 Rep
total of 62500 rep needed.
62500/100=626 (rounded up) better know a stitch. ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)
Anyway......626*5=3130 (626 is the number of donations you have to make and there's 5 motes per transaction.)
That means you need 3130 motes of light to reach rank 25 using only raids and motes.
AND I can tell you how much you need to do that.
if say you get about 17 materials per run per raid. you get a total of about 68 per week, 2 per mote so split that in half.
total of 34 motes per week.
34*100=3400
meaning 3400 rep per week
62550/3400=19 (rounded up)
so about 19 weeks.
BUT, the numbers may vary (scrapping gear, RNG, chests that you choose to get) so I say it could vary from 17-20 weeks and you'll be rank 25 using only old raids and motes.
(BTW you also get 5 or so motes from leveling up the light bar and doing bounties so it could even be 10 or less weeks)
For motes in general
Total of 62500 rep needed
5 motes = 100 rep
62500/100= 625
625 donations
625*5= 3125
total of 3125 motes needed to reach rank 25
Patrol bounties (bet you'll never see this idea anywhere)
Total of 62500 rep needed
22 rep from kill/collect bounties
27 VIP/scout/recon bounties
We'll start with the kill/collect
62500/22=2841 (rounded up)
total of 2841 kill/collect bounties
Now for the VIP/scout/recon
62500/27= 2315 (rounded up)
total of 2315 VIP/scout/recon bounties.
saddle up you squad and spend a day on patrol. Read some grimoire while you're at it.
Cheers
:D

Edited by AnonPig: 4/23/2016 3:48:46 AMIt takes 99 heavy packs for one rank, 99x25 is 2475. Divide that by 3 and it's 825 strange coins from 0-25, give or take because it's probably not exact haha
-
I appreciate your dedication but Bruh what do you do all day?
-
Damn thank god I'm 25 on 3 characters only one per faction though Been thinking of ranking up the other 2 factions for all three characters. I guess we will see what changes come with the April update.

About 2 seconds with spark of light.

Here's a cleaner version of material to rep rates and best methods. Copied from a guide a made a couple months ago. Rates: 5 Motes of Light - 100 rep 25 Weapon Parts - 50 rep 25 Armor Parts - 50 rep 4 Special Synth - 25 rep 1 Heavy Synth - 25 rep 25 Planetary Materials - 50 rep Strange Coins: Save these for Xur. One strange coin buys three heavy ammo synth. 1 Strange Coin - 3 Heavy Synths - 75 rep. Glimmer: If you have Ether Seeds, go to Variks in the Reef, and buy Heavy Synths. If you don't have Ether Seeds, go to the Gunsmith in the Tower and buy Weapon Parts. 250 Glimmer & 1 Ether Seed - Heavy Synth - 25 rep 1250 Glimmer - 25 Weapon Parts - 50 rep Black Wax Idols: If you have extra Idols, take them to Eris in the Tower. She sells Special and Heavy Synths for just Black Wax Idols and no Glimmer. Buy the Heavy Synths for the best deal. 5 Black Wax Idols - 1 Heavy Synth - 25 rep Ascendant/Radiant Materials: You can trade in old raid materials to the Speaker for either Motes of Light or Glimmer. Believe it or not, Glimmer is the better deal for Faction Rep. It would take 10 raid materials for 5 Motes or 100 rep. Those same 10 materials would buy 2500 Glimmer, or 100 rep in Weapon Parts, but that's 10 Heavy Synths (250 rep) if you have the Seeds to buy from Variks. One Raid Material - 250 Glimmer - 10/25 rep Legendary Marks: If you have spare Legendary Marks, you can buy Planetary Materials from the Vanguard Quartermaster in the Tower. 10 Marks buys 20 Materials. A full 200 Marks would buy 800 rep. The Materials each Faction is accepting changes every Tuesday on reset. 10 Legendary Marks - 20 Planetary Materials - 40 rep Other ways to raise Faction Rep: - Vanguard/Crucible bounties. - Patrol Missions - Nightfalls - Motes of Light earned through gameplay. - Glimmer farming with ghosts/consumables. - Prison of Elders (Motes/Coins) - Legacy Raids (Raid Materials) - Weekly package from Variks (Rank 2 needed, 3 for better loot) - Planetary Material farming (ghosts help) - Just playing the game normally.

You need to work about 400 hours a week, but then your boss will tell you that you can't cuz you just started working

Edited by Horus: 3/29/2016 8:17:25 PMHey Im rank 16 with fwc, how many strange coins do I need to get to 25? IM really lazy lmao Edit: Faction rep is at 324
-
Awesomesauce!
-
Damn your post makes me sad as hell for my NM rep
-
-.- motes > Heavy
-
Stop using math for practical purposes. People like u disgust me.
-
Hm... so if you average about 4 strange coins per level 28 PoE run... You can level from zero to 25 in about 200 runs!
-
Great math bro! ~I'll Ram your ass!
-
Anyone glance at the title while scrolling and read, "so I did meth." ?
-
Here's what I would like to know. What does rank 25 get you with each vendor?
-
Guys, the cheapest heavy seller is Variks
-
you should add how long it would take to turn in 834 coins.... if you dont want to do anything with your life for 1 weekend heres an idea turn in 834 coins to xur for heavies.. "face palm" (little exaggerated i know) seeing i have done this with like 200 it takes forever lol
-
Shame we can't just tap purchase heavy ammo instead of long pressing every damn time. Or idk, picking the number you want to buy then getting it all at once. Like any other RPG. Pokemon did this back in 96. Come on bungie.
-
Math IS fun! at least i remember days when it was/has been, though granted many other 'things' were too! seeing as your into doing it still? am wondering about a problem perhaps you might shed a little light on, regarding chess, so shortly after learning to play (back when math was fun) i remember winning a game that'd been going on for about 20 min's, instead of playing 'two' moves ahead i 'pictured' seven which would, if executed properly end in mate, this took me around 2 min's to process in my head and about another 10 or so to actually play, what kind of equations would that of entailed my now frazzled brain to compute? any idea, thousands? more, i used to tell myself it was millions due to lottery in UK, ie one in 18 million chance of all 6 numbers dropping, though now doubt that, still if i could finally get some sort of ball park figure it'd be great, sad i know but you sound like the type of guy who'd get it.
-
Please learn math you idiot you can't even do calculations what are nerd hahahahahaha
-
Edited by KimHasselager: 3/29/2016 9:31:20 AMAlso gotta take into account, you get 4 motes and 4 coins per level up. So you need roughly 100 coins less in total....
-
Edited by Diab3ticBatman: 3/29/2016 12:11:54 AMWouldn't motes of light be easier? I've accumulated like 250-300 simply by playing the game. The first gold tier public event of the day rewards you 5 motes, leveling up rewards you 5 motes. Some bounties give you motes, and you get them as rewards for redoing nightfall/strikes/crucible rewards. Just seems easier to just use those unless you need them to level up gear.
-
If you used the gun smith I believe it's more productive to buy weapon parts to turn in instead of heavy synth, but you can do the math.
-
You realize, If the most efficient exchange rates become widely known, Bungie will nerf them
-
Meth will end ya, son.
