Only problem is that oryx can't take things that are already dead. Guardians are all already dead or the undead if you will.

True guardians are already dead (in theory). However each new guardian was brought back to life by their ghost , AKA Resurrected , therefore guardians are very much alive thanks to the light of the traveller. The darkness also has a similar thing, you can see how the hive use shards of the travellers light to store the souls of ancient hive in them, and corrupt them to the darkness. So if the light of the traveller can keep ancient hive alive for centuries then why cant it bring dead guardians back to life?

We are still undead. If you read the cards even the fallen see us as an army of dead soldiers.

Wait what lore? Destiny has a story? Whhhhaaaaatttttt?!? JK I know hundreds of grimoire cards that people have to read in order to understand anything about the game. The lore is good though but not many people realise that. :(

As far as I can tell his is now in the ascendant realm. Possibly as part of the hive pantheon. Read the 2 oryx cards and you will see that it looks as though Tolland takes his place.
