So I'm a little bi curious as to whether or not trials is skill based. If it is, then can someone who actually knows what they are talking about explain the bracket for the skill set. I am an elo score of 1600 with a kd of .9 and a dtr score of like 28 I think. Why am I being placed with people who have an elo of 2200 kd of 2.5+ and dtr of 50. Those scores are no where near my skill level. I have been to the lighthouse 14 times and of which 4 this year. ZERO CARRIES because I'm not a scrub I make my way to the lighthouse with my brother who's kd is a 1.06 and a friend who's kd is 1.1 at best. So am I good at trials... I'd like to think so saying as many people have not and need to pay to make it there but no I am not in the God tier that this -blam!-ed up game keeps putting me in. And it's not just on 8-0 its first game, second game, any random game I get railed by these try hard God tier players who are carrying poor saps who can't make it with their friends. So with all my rant in mind.... What in the flying -blam!- is the bracket for these skills and why the hell am i being matched up against Jesus himself.

My ELO is 1600 but have a K/D of 1.4 :(

It's based around the number of wins on your card. It will always go by the highest number of wins across the 3 players in a fireteam. Example - I do carries, when me and my Partner reach 7 wins (no boons), the guy we are helping will be on 9 (with boons), it'll match based off that guys 9th game. Trials is (or certainly was up until recent MM changes) one of the most casual playlists, since it's based on your card and not skill.

I don't think it's skill based, pretty sure since it's destiny's competitive version of pvp, yiu get matched up with whomever, it's supposed to be based off wins though from what I've been told, but that's not always the case also.

Carry me?

Hahahahahaha This is what's wrong all the kids on here and on lfg. They think a .9 is good! Those times you got to the lighthouse you just got lucky/got carried. The match making for trials is fine. Those dudes that hang around 8-9 wins are the lighthouse gods (most of the time.) why should you have to fight someone that sucks for your lighthouse win? It's reserved for the best players. We stay on our flawless cards to keep kids like you out. Go kill oryx pleb. XD WE HOLD ALL THE KEYS. FIGHT US FOR THEM.

The player pool is about one fourth of what it was half a year ago. TTK launch: 800k participants on average. A couple of weeks ago: 500k on average. This week, post Division launch: 200k on average.
So I'm a little bi curious
Sigmund Freud would have a field day with you.

They changed it back to cbmm because everyone that does carries to the lighthouse were having to try to hard so bungie thought they'd cater to them so they don't have to sweat in a chair in front of there viewers. It's worse now then ever. Since this recent change I have had 8 teams go to the lighthouse and we were on out 1st match of the card this is def a broken system

Idk about that. Tl:dr But look at this. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/197207247/0/0

It must be skill based as well as card wins to make it more competitive
-
It's mainly based off wins on the card. For sure there's a bracket. I'm 1200 my stats are like a .8 kd overall. I played with 400 Elo dudes yesterday and it was the easiest wins but they sucked so it goes both ways

Lol sorry dude. Same here
