Separate PvE and PvP a bit more. Make really really good PvE gear that would have specific (useful) perks for strike playlists and raids and have gear tuned specifically to crucible. I know there are specific perks and weapons for each type of gameplay, but it feels like they're trying to make weapons useful for both which takes away the uniqueness of the gear. I'll use shotguns as an example. In both PvE and PvP they absolutely dominate. Perhaps the solution to the crucible shotgun dilemma is to focus them towards PvE gameplay and take away that same power in PvP. Another alternative is have 2 different perk trees or even 2 versions of the same gun. Like have a 1000 yard stare the can have purely PvP perks and can only be obtained via PvP drops while have another 1000 yard stare with the exact same situation for PvE. Just a thought, but it would make it so people get useful gear in there specific area for doing well in that area. This would also require players to actually develope skills in certain activities in order to get good gear and not give shortcuts to certain players. Like if I ran skolas and got a 1000 yard stare with hidden hand and firefly. I know this post is kind of rant-ish, but the idea just came to me and I thought I would share it! :D keep it real guardians!
*edit* they sort of did this with crucible vendors and making it so you can only get certain weapons and armor with crucible marks, but you were really only paying for a fancy color pallet and maybe a good perk role on a hawksaw. IMO not nearly enough to improve PvE or PvP
