So recently my cousin got a samsung phone. Not bad right? Well he's only 9 years old, meanwhile I waited till I was 13. What's your opinion flood?

14 or 15. A phone isn't necessary before high school IMO
-
Not needed until you can drive a car in my opinion. If I ever have girls, they will hate me.

-
Whatever age you are during 5th grade. That's when I got my first cellphone.
-
I think that 8th or 9th grade would be a good time as long as you can show me that you're responsible.

13/14 My cousin got his way to early and now he's addicted to it. He cries and goes crazy when he can't play games on his phone, and he is completly anti-social

When you can pay the bill

Give them a flip phone until they're in highschool
-
Cellphone? ~9. Smart phone? Not sure.
-
Definitely 13. Maybe if my kids worked for one when they're like 11 or 12 and bought it with their own money that would be fine
-
Depends on maturity.
-
My brother got his at fifteen, but I don't have one yet.
-
I've had my thoughts at 14. See lots of 13 replies. Guess 13 is alright.

When you are about to start being alone. I feel like it depends on the freedom the parent gives the child, like if they go biking or they can do things alone, I'd say get them a cellphone, but if they relatively stay home, and/or the parents don't allow them to do stuff like that. Then I would wait a little longer, like until they are in there mid-to late teens. I got mine relatively early (12) and honestly I was a lot more productive without it.

I got mine in high school. I could see the arguement for having one in middle school. If it was my kid they'd get a crap flip phone when they got to middle school and a new smartphone as a graduation present.

I'm 15 and don't have a phone
