Here's my ways The Division can learn from Destiny.
Change 1: Match making - I don't want to walk up to a mission start and be able to start hosting an instance or joining another with match making. Make me go to a website and post on forums to find partners is I want to experience the game with others.
Change 2: Too much content - Ubisoft, you done goofed, I'm 40 hours in and still have a good chunk of content including side missions and main story missions. It should only take me 8 hours to finish the story and hit the level cap Remove 75% of the content and sell it as DLC.
Change 3: Speaking of caps - where's my currency cap? I've earned 75,000 of the in game currency and some people have hundreds of thousands. Uh ... did you forget to add a cap or something?
Change 4: Locations - The playable area is too big, make it a lot smaller and add a bunch of baby bumpers that keep you confined to narrower environs.
Change 5: emotes - I need them, I want to pay money to have my character slow clap. Luke Smith is so disappointed in you.
Change 6: light level I'm uncomfortable about being able to reach the maximum level through playing the game and earning experience. I feel like my level should be tied to randomly receiving the appropriate gear.
Change 8: Other - Weapon shaders: yuck. Gear trading: gross. A shooting range? Can you say gimmick! RPG elements: too complicated, need to be dumbed down. In-game lore: nope, just nope.
It seems just one word is all I need to get a butthurt response from you.
Moto is right, you are playing right in his hands, do exactly what he expects from you. You are being predictable.
-
In fact, most people on these forums are very easy to manipulate. It's a trend due to how immature and toxic the community is, they're easy to play because they're all cookie cutter.
-
You sure? Coming from the perspective of a psychology major of 3 years, I'm actually playing him quite easily. His verbiage and lack of imagination that keeps becoming more prevalent in his replies shows I'm not feeding the troll, it's simple counter trolling. If you deny them a rise, you deny them the fuel they need to keep going. That's why he quit, I denied him and countered him to the point he had no more fire to operate off of. Simple psychology at its finest

Regardless of how this started, you look to have lost this fight.
-
On the contrary sir, that's just a fact. Sorry man :/
-
lol no. Don't drag me down with you. k bye.
-
You have brought yourself down, and at the end of the day ive been majoring in how to manipulate squabbles like this to the point where my victory is guaranteed. So, try again bud

Edited by Star Gazer2: 3/19/2016 5:05:50 AMVictory? No. Telling yourself that you won? Yes. Manipulating us? Highly doubt that. This all started because you didn't know that "You sound like ... well, you make no sounds at all, almost like you're muted or something, weird." was a joke for Muted. Then Moto just had to say "Desticle" and watch you explode. Plus I've seen multiple people taking the name "The Stranger" and I don't believe that you are the original. But whatever, your problem not mine. And don't even bother replying, I won't make a joke like the other guy I'll just tell you straight forward. Muted, no joke required. Sad we didn't get to have a longer chat, but it won't bother me too much. Good day.

Edited by Kurumi : 3/19/2016 1:12:45 PMI wouldn't expect those outside my major to understand what I did, it's not your fault. You just lack the education to comprehend. And I actually am the original user of "The Stranger" name, that much is truth and I can assure you of that

Haha. Very well done, sir.

Honestly, I like both games LOTS. Style wise I like the setting and fantasy nature and the combat of Destiny but The Division has some great elements to it. Actually, The Division is actually a really pleasing contrast to Destiny in so many ways. It's grounded, bleak, grim compared to Destiny's over the top, colourful space opera. They compliment each other nicely. It reminds me of when Fallout 3 and Fable 2 game out around the same time.
-
I agree, and I never understood why people say the division's setting (grim and bleak) is bad or that they take it as a negative...it's supposed to be, society is on the brink of collapse and apocalypse. It can be argued it's already in the early stages. Making it colorful with rainbows and unicorns would be completely jarring and illogical.
-
That's exactly how I feel about it. I really hope both games stagger DLC releases in the future. A lot of money could be made by both by working together instead of against. I guess against if they are trying to one-up each other.
-
Ya but ubisoft seems to be trying to 1-up destiny
-
They're kind of at an advantage there seeing as how they released their game 1.5 years after Destiny, don't you think? You don't think Bungie's taking notes while they're working on Destiny 2?
-
Of course bungie is taking notes why do you think the division dosen't have any of destiny's problems. The looked at what was already out. People never think about this but a game that comes out second has less merit for making mistakes because they weren't the first.
-
Do you see how that's exactly what I was implying? lol
-
Ya I know I was backing up your statment
-
Gotcha . I mistook it as saying that only Ubisoft was the one doing any 1-upping.
-
Na I'm sure destiny will do the same with there next release

There'd be some merit in alternating between sweet and savoury flavours of the two franchises to alleviate staleness, but I also hope competition drives both companies to compete for our affection.
