So I ran into this warlock running song of flame. Turns out he was a newbie who had no idea how to run sunsinger, and so, being a sunsinger with 2 deleted warlocks and my current one, I had to help him!
Basically I taught him that fireborn is for scrubs, and that radiant skin is the way to go (oh boy, I bet this will get so much hate, but it's only my opinion, as someone who has used it both ways). Also, running ram with a chest piece that ups armor with a solar subclass will make that radiant skin even more powerful.
Firebolt grenades with Viking funeral and touch of flame, and you have what I get first or second in rumble almost every time with. Fireborn is okay, but in terms of kills, and survivability, you will die much more easily with fireborn. If you want to tank a golden gun shot and be left with 1/3 health, use this setup. If I had recorded it, I'd show you a game that I did that in earlier.
It's the most effective way to run the subclass, as I generally get at least 2 kills each super, maybe more if I'm quick enough.

well - if you tried teaching him there is only one way to run the class, you did him a disservice. PVP - PVE - nightfalls - KF Raid - 6v6- 3v3 - there is no "right" way to run any subclass on any class. sure, some are more prevalent and certain activities demand certain things, but there is no catch all. hell, the other day I had 2 excellent matches in a row with several grenade kills before I even realized I had solar grenades still equipped from the Raid and wasn't using firebolts - when I trapped some fools in a hallway and burned em all straight to death I was amazed -- only a few moments later to question why my grenade was stuck on the ceiling ..... oh.....
