So, it's been a while since I played Destiny, and was thinking about coming back and playing for a bit.
My question is whether or not Red Death is still a good weapon after the previous changes. It was one of my favorite weapons in year 1, and I'd like to pick it back up again.
Feel free to discuss your opinion on the gun, and whether I should even use it.

Why not just go out and use it to see if you still like it?
-
PVE YES! I personally think it's one of the best weapons for Hard Mode Raid. On warpriest...when you are the guy holding arua....killing acolyte gives you your health..you dont have to worry about ducking for cover and re-adjusting.. When you are on golgoroth...hold the gaze...shooting those bolts gives your health back... on oryx..when you are in the shade...killing a thrawl gives you your health back...

PvE, yup. PvP no. Bad Juju is lethal.
-
In PvE absolutely in PvP no
-
Good in pve. But not my first choice of pulse rifles for pvp
-
Bungie continues to -blam!- up weapons, because of the crybaby bad kids.
-
No 3 to four bursts to kill... unless u body shot with sniper first... honestly wait till they rebuff pulse rifles
-
It's still useable. Use single point sling or snapshot for pvp
-
Go with Max range and it's still good, I love it.
-
No. Just use tlw 1kyard stare.

Not really. It's considered medium impact now. Rof and damage similar to nirwens. Your better off with a herja-d or a nerwins, due to stability. Perks are great on the red death, but because of recoil, you almost have to rely on them now. I main pulse rifles for everything and the nerf screwed up the archetype bad.
-
I can't speak for everyone but I have been successful with that when I have played.
-
Higher impact pulses got hit hard a hacksaw grasp or nirwens is whete its at

I like red death!

Farm a Grasp.

If you were good with it in year 1. Use it. Idk bout other people but that was my only great pvp weapon in year 1 besides last word
-
I was all about the red death for a long time. And just like you I took a break for a little bit. I tried running red death when I got back, and it was really inconsistent. Sometimes it would work alright, and other times I'd just get demolished trying to use it. I definitely switched out the red death and decided to buy a year 2 Mida Multitool from the vendor and never looked back. Doctrine of passing, the last word, and Mida are basically the main weapons that seem to be the meta at the moment. Red death will definitely get outgunned by any of those choices.

Red death feels very inconsistent. Hawkmoon is in the same boat. They're good weapons, but they feel like they're firing blanks. Unless you have God for aim, you aren't going to win any major gunfights. That said, red death is in a great position for PvE. Great during the raid, and fun to use during strikes. But... Bungo ruined the weapon for PvP by reducing it's already precariously low stability, and somehow decreasing the accuracy. So... Useable? Yes, but wouldn't recommend for PvP. If you want to hop back into the meta, equip an auto rifle with high stability, or use a scout.

It's nowhere near as good as it was in year one.

Still a 3 shot pulse rifle, I do like it
