Why Are Broman & Gothalian So Popular?
I don't see why they're bigger than streamers who are actually good at the game like mtashed, Wish You Luck, tripleWRECK, Giggle Monstar, Gamesager, Realkraftyy or WaRbulletpoof. Can someone explain this to me? Why would you watch a streamer even though they're not that strong of a player?

I'm not interested in watching try-hard, sweaty streamers. Spending ten minutes in a ShesMyNerd stream one time turned me off from the sweaty streams forever. I'd much rather watch the average guys with personality who I can relate more to.

5 RepliesBecause when the competitive streamers get killed in PVP they talk trash about the loadouts and methods used by the person that killed them. This leads to alienation of an audience segment which uses the same loadout/method the streamer talked trash about and those people stop watching. Goth and Broman seem to understand they are, first and foremost, in the entertainment business and rule number one is not to alienate people. It's just bad business.

Goth and Broman have been with Destiny since Day one, they pulled over a big chunk of the Borderlands community, they are very smart at managing large communities and they're both funny. People watch streams/videos for different reasons, Top players are like watching sports games, funny streamers are, well, comedians. 2 RepliesI generally don't watch people play video games as a rule. But I kind of like Mr fruit reviews so I watch them from time to time on my lunch break. This thread actually made me decide on watch my first twitch stream. I watch Broman play the division for about 20 Minutes to help me decide if I wanted to buy an Xbox one for the game... Decided I'm just going to wait some more. Then I watch gothalion play for a few minutes before I realized I don't like watching video game streams. But I gave it one more shot and watched a wishyouluckk stream and realized I would rather be working than watching someone else play a video game

The same reason why achievement hunter are so popular. Being the best at the game doesn't mean you are going to be the most entertaining to watch.

Probably because people like triplewreck and wish you luck are so full of themselves their arrogance is annoying and I'm guessing the others you mentioned fall in to that category as well

Well Gothalion has been working at this since Borderlands and has since gained followers for being knowledgeable and entertaining and interactive. Not sure why Broman is so popular though, watched that guy once on the Bungie stream and he annoyed the piss outta me

Because to be popular it's more than being g good at the game. I would argue that it's not very important to be good at all. There are many other prerequisites to be a popular streamer and goth possesses many of them.

3 RepliesI'd tend to agree. Personally, I dislike Goth, I find him to be annoying and hypocritical. I don't dislike Broman but I don't enjoy his streams. Streams I enjoy: kjhovey, Luminosity, Rhabby, and a few small time streamers.
