This may be a long post so please bear with me. Includes some story aspects but mostly a new mechanic/subclass.
So one thing we can agree on is that the Awoken Queen, Mara Sov (referred to as MS for the rest of the post) has not yet been determined as being dead or alive. It's accepted that her entourage were ON the dreadnaught as some flavour text and a quest/bounty or two have indicated. As a premise for the next part let us say that the MS indeed survived and was captured by Oryx prior to the Cabal assault. Since then she has been held in Darkness that's infested the dwarf planet Eris (AKA Xena or Planet X) which lies beyond Pluto. Eris was blighted Permanently during the first invasion by the Darkness. The story for this section involves realising the capture of MS, discovering her location (the fallen may be of use here), and mounting a rescue.
Now here is where it gets more interesting. During the rescue of MS the Guardians become 'tainted' due to the immense influence of the Darkness on the planet. MS herself is unaffected due to her natural affiliation to both Dark and Light. Anyway the act of releasing MS from her 'cage' 'taints' the guardians with Darkness which strips them of all their abilities (temporarily at least). At this point Davey Jones (the Speaker) turns up. The traveler has stirred and ushered him into action. The guardians go through an ordeal (I haven't worked out specifics) during which the Speaker is able to isolate the Darkness within the guardians, both restoring previous abilities, and granting a new subclass common to titan, warlock, and hunter known as Tainted Light.
- Story segment ends here -
Tainted light is a common subclass with a combined super ability as well as a regular super. For each class this 'tainted' subclass would mimic their 'primary' subclass. Warlocks would be Solar (Sunsinger -Self-res), Titans would be Void (Defender - Ward of Dawn), and Hunters Arc (Blade-dancer). Each of these classes featured something unique that no other class can do. The 'tainted' version would be similar but with obvious differences. Warlocks can self-res but instead of shielding themselves they become out-of-phase (unable to interact with physical world ie shoot things or be shot) for 10 seconds during which time they have an aura that weakens enemies (like melting point for titan melee) but explodes at the end of the countdown doing massive damage to both friend and foe (like unstable light during Golgoroth). Hunters gain a tainted arc sword that can bypass enemy shields and an aura that disables melee damage done by enemy combatants. Titans gain a strong overshield (that doesn't regenerate) and an aura that can either continuously recharge friendly shields or buff weapon damage (blessing and weapons of light),
On to the combined super.
During the activation of each of the new supers a guardian can opt to hold down super activation a second time (L1+R1) to 'cancel' the super and generate an blight orb in an outstretched hand. Another guardian may approach the orb and offer their charged super (by holding square of something briefly), thereby adding a second 'charge'. At three(3) 'charges' the orb activates as a 'Blighted Nova'. 'Blighted Nova' immediately recharges friendly shields, resurrected one random dead guardian, and disintegrates any Major or lower unfriendly creature within 100 yards (Not sure how big this thing should be). Ultras are stunned for 8 seconds (Unable to act and all shots are crit damage like they've been tethered) and raid bosses are unaffected.
Conditions for initial activation of combined super. Only 'tainted' supers may be offered as a charge. Warlock must have been alive when activated super (self-res applies a diminished blight debuff). No creature can be killed by a guardian before creating the blight orb post super activation. Can be cancelled by damage that would kill a guardian to the orb holder (at which point the orb would re-absorb, any supers offered refunded, and the initial guardian refunded 4/5 of their super bar) however the orb holder is temporarily immune to any damage.
That's the extent of my ideas so far. Thanks you for reading.
