This is getting to a point in PvE and PvP that it's become clear and apparent that we need reforging back. Legendaries are lacking so much in utility and that's generally because we have no control over the perks we get. I've literally seen a Shortgaze, Eye of the Storm, Snapshot, Hot Swap 1K Yard Stare in PvP. I didn't even challenge that the entire game because that's simply terrifying. I've also noticed that only the Doctrine is viable in PvP and that's partly because we have no reforging to make our legendary primaries decent or at least a perk or scope/sight we like. It's all RNG and it's just not good for a competitive atmosphere.
Here's the thing, if we had reforging, and you rolled your sniper or shotgun the exact way you wanted it after spending the time and materials to do and you lose a gun fight then that's on you. But at this point, if someone got lucky and got a god tier roll, then who's to say you wouldn't have had a better chance with perks/scopes you can actually use that suit your playstyle? This is just my opinion, so I'm not saying that everyone would love to have it back. But if that ends up being the general consensus then it needs to come back immediately. I would feel more confident using a legendary primary if I could reforge my Eyasluna or Vanity or Dis-43, etc etc. I'd feel more confident in snipe encounters if I had the perks I liked and the scope that I enjoy using. Maybe someone has a rebuttal about why reforging is a bad thing and I'm completely open to listen to that. I'm just putting this out there because I haven't seen it talked about as much lately.

Yes, 100%. Reforging for both weapons and armor. And none of this asinine random rolling either. I want control over how my character plays and looks. I have almost a dozen arm pieces so i can have a reloader perk for all the weapon types i use, plus depending on the build im going for i need either int/str or int/dis. And gods forbid i should ever get the correct perks/stats on a piece of gear i actually like the looks of. as for weapon, i'll get something that might be interesting but it has only one good perk on it.. so i throw it in my vault. then i get another one with maybe 2 passable perks.. ok, i guess ill have to compare them later to see which one is better.. flash forward i have 5 copies of a gun waiting for me to decide which is the least terrible. Yes, what a meaningful and skill based system of progression you have here. As far as Bungie's argument that they dont want people to just pick the best perks, i have 2 counter arguments. First, the person with an RNG-gated god roll only has "the best" because everyone else is stuck with garbage. Why do you want a handful of people to have strickly better guns than the majority? How is that "fun"? Besides, if you end up with everyone picking the exact same perks that says more about your inability to design meaningful choices than anything else. Second, I dont believe that is even the real reason. I feel there is just so little content Bungie feels compelled to stretch it out as far as possible. No doubt they have stats on how many times people run strikes for a gun etc and if the first time a grasp of malok dropped that was the last time they had to run it.. well, shit. bungie cant have that or they'd have to start creating more content. Despite what you might think Bungie many of us are aware of your ridiculous treadmill design philosophy but tolerate the many faults of the game because the stuff hat is good is genuinely good. But eventually enough resentment will build up and it just isnt worth it. There are games i can play that have zero grind and the up time on the fun is 100% so why am i wasting my time here? lastly, for anyone that doesnt like reforging, i know this will come as a huge shock but you can just not use it. there is no reason to ruin something for others just because you dont want to use it.

While I agree that reforging needs to return, it would make the Armsday system a bit less attractive. Maybe limit it to strike exclusive drops?

I personally despise reforging. It encourages players to only pick from a certain few perks, and encourages Bungie to keep making silly a*s decisions, and trash weapons. I will say this: Grasp of Malok should come with that Hive Wizard damage perk under its kinetic slot, like a Trials weapon with Last Resort, or one of the many Raid weapons with the Taken perk. Why they don't have it is beyond my understanding, and if you're encourage to grind for these weapons, it damned sure better be worth it. The Warlock helm should provide additional resistance to Arc Burn and maybe that Shank Burn perk, now that it's actually useful...and that's how you get it, anyways. Same with Dark Blade Helm and the various Flayer cloaks.

My idea on reforging: Instead of dismantling weapons for there parts, you do it for there perks For example a 1000-Yard Sniper Rifle with Hidden Hand, Snapshot, and Last Resort... but no short range Scopes (totally do not have this exact roll). With this system you can dismantle another Sniper Rifle with an Ambush or Shortgaze at a booth and be able to place those perks, sights, or ballistics on any corresponding weapon, allowing me to place that Ambush on my perfect Sniper Rifle (needs mobility nerf). If you dismantle a weapon there, you can replace weapon perks on your weapons with the ones you've collected from dismantled weapons. Legendaries are better than exotics now. Thunder lord easily out gunned by light machine gun from KF.
-
All reforging did was discourage weapon variety and encourage players to seek out whatever "the best" PvP perk rolls are. The fact that there are a considerable amount of bad or situational perks only amplifies this. It was fun at first, but it ultimately caused more harm than good when everyone is running around with similar perk rolls on similar weapon archetypes. That's not very fun, interesting, or diverse at all.

I agree reforge needs to come back. There have been almost daily posts about this. I really don't see why none of them have received any attention from bungie.

With crucible drops being worse than ever I agree with this

Yes!!!

Get rid of this bullshit infusion system while you're at it.

Edited by Nanji_Gaming: 3/8/2016 6:32:42 PMSolving the root problem of "random selection of many undesirable perks" sounds better to me. One way to do that is to eliminate undesirable perks and eliminate the random perk selection on gear drops. I'd rather see gear (dropped or purchased) simply be static with no random selections, much like the exotics were in Year 1. This would have to be balanced out with an increase in available 'versions' of any given item. Right now I feel that having 6 available variants of the 1KYS would be better than having random selections in each perk slot and hoping for a "good combination" on your drop. My 2¢.

I think...
The Division is out.
I don't think it's a good idea.

And you think most snipers are bad now. If they allowed us to do that again it would be horrible.

Edited by Val44: 3/8/2016 2:03:37 PMIts not only guns that need reforging. Armor as well and let me upgrade my greens to blues and then to legendary . Put random perks on them as i upgrade , then let me reforge them . Do the same for armor. Create exotic modules that i can BUY (or that drop randomly drop from raid bosses ) which have an exotic perk . Let me apply that to any legendary to make it exotic. Do the same for armor. Thats how you diversify.

Reforging should not come back in its same form. It ruined crucible with everyone running around with the same weapon. Instead they just need to increase drop rates as they should have done with TTK but did not they actually reduced it. HOW had fantastic drop rates but got lumped in with reforging when they changed the game for taken king. Had they left drop rates as they were you would have significantly better chance of getting a good roll now. If the spring update puts drop rates back (oh and put crucible drops in with Iron Banner loot) I think people would be more satisfied with the loot than they are now.

Bump for reforge. In fact I will come back here periodically to BUMP for reforge
-
-blam!- yeah give me reforging PLEASE!!
-
I like idea of reforging but the system was broke, i would prefer reforging work this way: u have 2x same weapon, u can combine them and choose what perks u want and the other weapon get dismantlet when its done
-
-
Reforging would be viable if you could only choose one perk to replace, not reroll forever for god perks.
-
Yah! I grind constantly for the weapons that I want. But when I finally do, I get a trashy role.
