I did. The actual map was cut into pieces, you could go into the other fully rendered areas but would die if you didn't return.
Also the enemies ai was cut to 20% of what will be there in release. It said all that in the beta info. Once it's out it'll be crawling with enemies.

... Maybe im not explaing it right I read that when the full game launchs the total map size will be smaller than it was going to be... Im not trying to talk down about the game this is just what i had read

It's not though. Nothing ubisoft has put out about the game says they are cutting out fully rendered maps that are already placed on the servers fully made.
