During roughly nine months of Y1, this gun owned the Crucible.
*It had enough range to easily compete with snipers
* It did enough damage after burn to kill players in only 2 headshots
*It rendered your recovery stat useless as you wouldn't be able to regen until the DoT(6 ticks & 7 damage per tick) was done stealing your life
*To top it off you could watch the 7's tick off & track players through walls(much like keen scout or burn from firebolts w/ touch of flame & viking funeral)
With things were that were truly overpowered(that some of you seem to have forgotten) such as Tlw ads 111 damage headshots, god roll Felwinters with truly crazy range, Hawkmoon 1-2 shot kills being a normal occurrence, machine guns being irrelevant due to god roll rockets everywhere... Thorn stood above all that as the strongest pvp weapon in the game.
While I still cringe when I hear Thorn shots from time to time, I truly miss the era when primaries were actually primaries. Now primary weapons are so weak that players avoid engaging other players unless they have special ammo...
So what're your thoughts about this dark demon of the Crucible? Do you have PTSD about it like me, or have you accepted it's temptation & fallen into darkness?

I think thorn should be bumped into the first curse archetype and the dot either left as it is or turned into a refresh instead of a stacking dot. The first curse archetype is very slow firing and will two shot low armor and with the dot would two shot guardians but it still is one of the slowest ttk in the game. If necessary slow the rof even more

It's fine the way it is. DoP and Malok among other high rate of fire guns will beat thorn most times. Leave it the way it is and bring it forward

*Currently enjoying the fact that people complain so much about thorn but the majority of people don't really give a shit*
-
Look at my clan, and you will understand
-
I needs to be un nerfed and brought back up to 7 per tick.
-
Bring thorn back to the year 1 splendor THANK YOU
-
In year one the DoT was savage. After that being nerfed there isn't a reason to complain.
-
This gun is fine.

Edited by abelsinh: 3/3/2016 9:49:27 PMI can't even count how many times a Thorn user shot first and I ended up wining the encounter, just to be killed after it by the DoT. Thorn DoT should: a) Be regulated by range. b) Stop when the Thorn user dies.
-
Shouldn't stack and should damage greatly. Alike it was.
-
I don't know what the renewed hate for thorn is really, it is so easy to deal with it now. In year one it was beast. Now not so much.
-
Just leave it. I rarely ever see that gun anymore. Most people abandoned it when they fixed the stupid range.

Adding to the stop, drop, and roll idea, I think a certain button combo should activate an animation that removes the burn upon activation, but leaves you vulnerable for a couple seconds. Maybe if you sprint slide while burning, you recieve a prompt to hold (your reload button here) in order to start the animation. The burn would still promote a disengage from combat (DoT would still be viable), and you wouldn't be powerless to live even if (and especially) you had defeated the one who burned you.

Edited by HiddenWarrior: 3/3/2016 10:40:08 PMThorn should have enough DOT damage to two tap lowest armored guardians to the head and three tap mid to high armored guardians. The only difference is that it should only do one DOT damage per ping (on a body shot) as opposed to 3 so that it can't 3 shot body shot, but still stops health regeneration and allows players to track targets.

This Thorn ain't the year 1 Thorn I lived through the year 1 Thorn Apocalypse. Bungie let it go on for way too long. I still have PTSD from that shit. I don't know if you were there in year 1 but if you were, you'll know the difference. It's fine now.

Dot shouldn't affect anything with light
-
it makes it unique
-
They should make it do just one damage point per tick. The point of it is to keep shields down, not do considerable damage.

Edited by Baited: 3/2/2016 11:03:13 PMAye it's Brother Vance, Well I presume you already know my long winded thoughts on DoT...lol. Had an argument with an idiot earlier (Not OP) I talk about how DoT shouldn't exist in PvP and use firebolts as an example. Said idiot get offended, tries to defend firebolts and compare them to the incendiary nade.

Not only is your argument invalid but it is irrelevant. Also what exactly do warlocks lose from using 2 perks for their firebolts? Trying to compare incendiary to firebolts lmao. I probably don't even need to check your profile to guess you main a warlock who probably whores flame shield and firebolts with ToF and VF. You don't know what you're talking about, DoT is powerful because of how long it keeps you out the game and how vulnerable it leaves you. To anyone else who reads this post do not be offended, I am not attacking warlocks, firebolts was just an example. Anyways back to the matter at hand thorn alone with it's stats and lingering damage are fine. It's the fact that health is reducing overtime which keeps you out the fight and makes you weaker as an added to effect. And then when you stop taking damage only then will the shield recovery countdown begin. Tell me how would thorn be if the ticks of damage from DoT didn't reset the health recovery timer? It would be fine. Of course the damage is a whole new matter. Then you have to take into account all the other benefits which is why thorn is overpowered. DoT gives away exact enemy position, and is a constant reoccurrance due to the fact that it is a primary. Why do you think firebolts are such a big complaint? Every mindless fool wants to say it's the damage that makes it overpowered, when really it's total recovery time you need which makes firebolts very viable. And again there will be other contributing factors always which makes something even worse than it is. Firebolt alone is a decent grenade. Good range. Not hard to hit someone. You have all those things to account for as well as the burn. Incendiary grenades require much more accuracy and timing to place well, due to the type of grenade it is and the detonation style it has along with the blast radius. Stick firebolts ToF with VF on an incendiary. It won't be as powerful as a firebolt. Because they are much more effective and easier to use, even if you are out the fight for a while. Every factor counts.

The burn is only 3 hp. They should restore it to 7. Thorn was good, now it is just ok and one of the few hand canons that are worth anything.
-
Leave it the way it is but come up with a way for the guardian to stop, drop and roll.
-
Why have exotics if there is nothing exotic about them
-
I Love DoT classes in general, Thorn was great in HoW except for its range - - - it was able to compete with scouts! The burn dropped from 7 a tick to 3,but apparently now it stacks, whereas before it didn't - - - that seems like a buff, not a nerf. Reducing the range and hand cannon accuracy was needed, but I enjoyed it as it was this summer
-
dot only hits procs for a precision shot just change it 1 damage per tic boom balance
