[Spoilers below]
I'm going to be talking about and asking about some things! So please answer if you can :)
So, I've made about 3 or 4 different characters before. But I really haven't done anything. I've given up doing certain things for the sake of immersion. I don't know if I should/will do the same thing. Even though I mostly go around my business as a nice person, something about the Dark Brotherhood draws me to them. I love them and I will always join them.
Because of that... I haven't done certain things. For example... I have never been with the Thieves' Guild. I did the first mission or 2 once or twice before, but I just felt like I was betraying my Dark Brotherhood family, so I stopped doing their missions. Maybe I can join them if I create a head canon that I'm just using them for their benefits to help the Brotherhood, or maybe one of you can convince me that being with the Thieves' isn't really a problem even though I'm in the Brotherhood.
Because the war with the Imperials v Stormcloaks is big, I have participated in that. Even though I don't agree with them on some important issues, I went with the Stormcloaks because the Empire. You know, basically kills my family in our own home! ;-; I'm wondering if should just skip out on that questline since I'm a Dark Brotherhood assassin ( •-•) If you think I should do it, give reasons why it would make sense to do it, and why it would make sense to join which faction, please :)
That's kind of the main stuff out of the way, now I'm wondering, what other quests/factions are worth maybe breaking a little immersion for? I've been with the college and companions once, for example. I don't know how I felt about that.
If you have any other questions or opinions on how I should maybe do things, or just what I should do, or when, please feel free to say anything! Any kind of input or advice is appreciated ^_^

The thieves guild and the dark brotherhood have a sort of pact going on with each other. Sapphire in the thieves guild is or was also part of the brotherhood

if you see seven dead wolves on a path at night, -blam!-in run. that worked out for me.

Edited by Keksis, enjoyer of memes: 3/2/2016 6:56:44 AMGet lvl 90 in conjuration Follow the method I use you can get daedric armor before lvl 30 Also get conjure dual swords and spam them against enines from a safe distace as much as you can it is worth it

The Thieves guild and the dark bro. Work together, they're allies, so you should do that. Also, join the college of Winterhold, it's badass.
PS: The best companion you can get their is J'zargo, he levels with you until lv. 80 and is just plain awesome. To do his quest easily go to the midden under the college.
Check out Fudgemuppet skyrim builds on youtube.

I've only played through Skyrim once, but when I did, I did everything. All factions, all sides, all DLCs, even killed the Ebony Warrior on top of Snowy Mountain. That was a very intense fight and one of my proudest gaming moments ever. For the sake of immersion, you are correct, if feels weird being high ranking of not the leader for many factions but Skyrim still pulls it off greatly.

As it turns out.... The thieves guild and dark brotherhood have some ties. Besides
people complained about only being able to focus on one guild so Bethesda let you join all three with no issues.
Damn it not I want to play my stealth class. Was just a murderer and never paid for anything unless the coin was stolen from the shop. Was so much fun...... No fast travel and making sure you never get caught is the best way. Also, get that lock pick that never breaks from the thieves guild quest line. You won't be able to finish the mission but it's awesome to have.

I once played the game as a "puppeteer" of sorts. Used sneak and illusion to "persuade" my enemies into killing each other while I sat back quite contently and watched. Whoever the victors were got to enjoy a round two against their reanimated friends and assorted Daedra. Why lift a finger when others can do it for you?
-
Play through? Is that possible?

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 2/29/2016 1:15:51 AMI once did a run where I never fast traveled save for the carriages outside the four major holds. I encountered so many new things. Finally saw the headless horseman outside Whiterun too. It became my favorite way to play the game and I will be doing that on my first run of the next Elder Scrolls game.

What race and character build are you going for?

Edited by M1DN1T3Marauder: 2/29/2016 3:38:01 AMSneak and Illusion only playthrough. What do you mean imperials killed your family? You get caught crossing the border and thrown in a cart with the rebels. Siding with the rebels is siding with the elves whether you like it or not. Edit- Sorry, I see you meant the Brotherhood.
-
Actually the Brotherhood and Thieves Guild are allies with each other. They don't help each other out with their business but they trade information and are generally amicable toward each other. So you wouldn't be betraying either one if you joined both
-
A character that focused on conjuration was my favorite. Summon a daedra with left hand. One handed sword with right. Then swap left hand to whatever other magic.
-
You can join both guilds and neither will really give a shit
-
I gotta ask.. do you change your name frequently or is there some kind of RH cult. Sorry for the off topic comment.
-
I'm confused where yo got this idea the Empire killed your family in your own home? Your character is in the process of illegally crossing the border and gets caught up in an Imperial ambush designed to capture Ulfric Stormcloak and end the war with minimal bloodshed.
-
Play as if you are really focusing on the main objective and don't fall to being sidetracked so easily. Also, try to use fast travel as little as possible.
-
Make an Algonkian in the ebonheart pact
-
Ew stormcloaks
-
The thieves guild and DBhood work together sometimes, so it's perfectly fine if you join both. And it's not really the "imperials" that kill your whole family, it's just the Penitus Oculatus, which is basically the Blades, or the new bodyguards of the Emperor. So I mean that's up to you lol
-
But, that Nightingale armor...
-
Hmm. I don't know what you get from the thrives guild, but look up the last reward they give you online, and pretend the dark brotherhood needs it.

Edited by Sub: 2/28/2016 10:26:04 PMYou can join pretty much all groups without having to choose a side. Basically the only choice is stormcloack vs imperial (excluding the dlcs). So I say join every group you can since they all give you quests/loot
