That's why my friend. PC games are so much easier to mod and patch. On the other hand, destiny is on 4 consoles. Its so much more difficult to patch for multiple consoles much less consoles that all have different specs.

There is Defiance, it is available on PC, Xbox, and Playstation. I've seen more updates and communication in that game than Destiny, and they even turned into a free-to-play game (though I had to pay for the initial release.)

Edited by Navi: 2/27/2016 10:57:51 PMYou do know that every game ever is developed on PC first then ported over to console right? You could make a console game in Unity for lets say PS4 and Xbox One and easily patch both because porting is basically a click of a button in a game engine like that, and assuming because Bungie made their own engine it would more than likely be MUCH easier to patch and port Destiny for every single console because it was designed to be a console only game and never intended to be played on PC. Wouldn't be surprised if it takes them 2 minutes to port everything, the code for this game is the same for every console, which is C#.

You know just enough to sound like you know what you are talking about but have no actual idea what it takes to create a game for 4 consoles. Especially one that is always online and has pvp and pve elements that are constantly evolving.

I just said the code they use for this game is the same for every console and we play on a ported copy which doesn't take much to do, so they do not have to worry about changing the code per console and the only things they change are asset models for some weapons but this is only for last gen and wouldn't require much coding but would require extra modeling. To keep a game online all the time they need servers obviously that are capable of handling tons of users and the database at the same time which they have a separate team for so this shouldn't hinder progress on content. Let's have an example, let's say Bungie decides they wanted to add a new area in a mission like they did with the spindle, they would have to model/create the new area (which isn't done through code they have a map creator which is drag and drop mostly just like every game engine almost and this is assuming they aren't reusing an area) then code the triggers to open the area once a certain task is completed, which again only needs to be coded once because destiny is using the same code for every console, then they test it on their computers to make sure it is playable and works, then they port it over to a developer console to further test it and finally push it to the live game. This alone would take them half a week probably less and would provide players something to do for 1-2 hours depending on how difficult they make it assuming it's something like the spindle mission, do they do this? No. Would doing something like this benefit the game? Yes, and wouldn't take them much effort to accomplish.

Dude you are literally talk shit you don't know what you are talking about. Please just stahp.
-
Is that what they call irony? He's doing what you did but you're calling him out for it. Oh the lols.
-
You say this but you dont know what swkotor is? Thats highly -blam!-ing suspicious of bullshit. You speak of coding and such but have no idea what that is?! A game praised at its time for its coding and the like? BULLSHIT.
-
I never talked about code once you dolt. What is wrong with you?
-
And you are saying you do know when you haven't said anything other than "it's difficult because they make the game on 4 consoles"? Alright dude lol
-
No i just no how to shut my mouth when I don't know what I'm talking about. You made a crappy game once and think you know everything now. Just because I don't know how to make them doesn't mean you can say whatever you want and its suddenly fact.
-
Edited by Navi: 2/27/2016 11:28:22 PMI never said I know everything about game development as a whole but in the case of developing content I know enough lol if you don't know how to code a game then you can't go around telling people who have worked with game development they are full of shit
-
Well bro, again you don't know what it takes to create a video game like destiny. You can keep talking about your experience with development. But you clearly don't. Clearly if bungie could update content faster they would. If you think they are stupid and just don't know what they are doing you really are full of shit
-
https://gyazo.com/602b669e5c71c606aaf928efd704f140 to show you I do have experience in game development (the scene I didn't spend a lot of time on which is why it's all rigid), and did I ever once say I think they are stupid or just don't know how to do any of this? No, obviously they know how to do it because they have done it before, my point is there are plenty of chances to add new content like plenty of other games do but for reasons I couldn't tell you they don't.

All I ever hear from Bungie is excuses. Our engine, our team is working... Blah blah. And I know CoD is smaller. But the tweaks are still the same. It runs on 4 consoles. And they tweak shit almost daily. When it first dropped there were 2 patches within the FIRST WEEK. Bungie needs to drop the shit. Drop their sack and wrangle their creation back under control. I don't care if it's "hard". Everyone has hard jobs that they kick ass at because they have too. Time to get it going, stop being lazy. Let's roll out something even if it's wrong. Then fix that cuz atleast the community will see its trying.
