Order of operations would make you need to divide before multiplying because that is how it is left to right after you solve the parentheses 6 / 2 (1 + 2) 6 / 2 x 3 3 x 3 9

Yes, but the distributive property would have you multiply the 2 to both the 1 and the 2 and then add both of those numbers together before dividing.

If you are trying to solve for a variable you would need to like this 2(X+3) = 8 2x + 6 = 8 ___-6____-6 2x = 2 --- --- 2 2 X = 1
