People need to -blam!-ing learn what Pedmas(or Bodmas or bedmas or Pemdas or Pemdsa or what the -blam!- you use). The acronym is like that so young children can remember how to do it. Multiplication doesn't not come first just because what you learned is PEMDAS. Multiplication and division are done in the order they appear in the equation(left to right).
Now that we got that out of the way, let's do math!
-PEDMAS(What I use)
6/2(2+1) = ?
-Parentheses: 2+1=3
6/2•3
-Exponents: N/A
6/2•3
-Division/Multiplication: 6/2 comes first so we do that.
3•3
-Division/Multiplication: 3•3 is what's left so we do that.
3•3=9
There you have it! The answer is nine!
The answer can be different with the insertion of for parentheses however. Carry on.
English
-
6 ÷ 2(1+2) 6÷ 2(3) THEN DISTRIBUTE THE 2 TO 3 6÷6 1

The order doesn't matter. I use PEDMAS, but that doesn't mean that division comes first. It could also be: Pemdas Pedmsa Pemdsa See? The order of the words doesn't matter, what does is the order they numbers appear left to right.

No, the division comes first on the equation, therefore, you would divide first

Finally someone who isn't a complete retard.

Why thank you.
