Recently I've been playing with the truth, and the thought occurred to me: what's the difference between truth tracking and regular tracking?
I cant deny the fact that truth is an excellent launcher, due to G&H, tripod, and "aggressive" tracking, but I'm not sure what aggressive means, because i haven't noticed anything different between it and any old tracking launcher.
I would love to test this, and i have been trying, but the differences that i get may be up to how far i flick the launcher's aim, or what the enemy I am firing at is doing.
What im asking for is either suggestions on where i could get consistent results or a clip of sorts to prove truth is better. Thanks!
Edit 1:
Here are some clips from testing: watch these before posting PLEASE

I realize that the truth clip is bad because the rocket disappears, so im trying to get a better one.

I'll just leave this here.

You have never known fear until you rush behind cover to see a truth rocket make u turn and rush towards you

Edited by Swiftlock: 2/27/2016 9:45:15 PMIt's interesting that there has yet to be a formal study on this.

Ignore the fools. All launchers can do U turns. The difference is Truth tracking is as it says more aggressive. What a rocket would take to do a U turn truth would take less because it has more flexibility in turning around. If you want to greatly test. take the taikonaut and a proximity launcher vs Truth. There is difference Truth just alters it's path faster and and more flexible.

It's extremely aggressive. Once it travels a certain distance it kicks in. It will weave through corners and through gaps. I used it in IB last night and watched it weave through several obstacles to hit a target.

Truth year 1 was great, but year two for some reason I can't get it to work for me in pvp. It's OK in pve, but the minute I use it in pvp it doesn't track at all and goes flying past most of my enemies, even when I'm aiming more or less bang on target. Im finding I get way more heavy kills with the Fwc launcher that doesn't have tracking.

I've seen Truth rockets turn corners before. The aggressive tracking is real.

Normal tracking sucks
-
Normal rockets don't do this. They would bend but because they are so slow it's pointless. http://youtu.be/habCfLge8k8

Tracking in Truth Y2 is broken. Orginal Truth can track teleporting Vex or Fallen. Bungie please fix Truth.
-
You must new here. The Truth does damn near a 180 to hit its target. If it doesn't. It dishonor family. It knows this.
-
They messed up rocket launchers they suck now except for the truth or a year 1 launcher like radegast and that new suros one.
-
Truth seems so effective because of the proximity detonation. Other RL with tracking need direct contact Truth and Ghally combined tracking and proximity detonation making a miss much more difficult add in almost max velocity and blast radius and you get an almost inescapable deathball
-
Have you ever seen the triple kill with the truth rocket? A guy fires and misses and the the rocket comes back and kills half the enemy team
-
Truth don't have to lock to track and sometimes the rocket will alter its path to "aggressively" kill its target.

Edited by Executor Hideo: 2/27/2016 2:33:19 AMA tracking rocket will miss every now and then. The truth rocket doesn't miss... It turns around.

you ever seen an ACME rocket chase Wile E Coyote ?

My first 1.5 years of destiny I really sucked in the crucible. I didn't really notice, but now that I am getting my K/D rate up and finishing a lot better it is becoming apparent that normal tracking against better players doesn't work well. Since everyone knows when heavy is cut loose, awareness is up and it is actually a pain to kill with my legendary launcher. Obviously a planned launch works well, but I have been surprised many times by someone jumping out of the way. At 3 rounds a pickup, they need to all be kills.

I haven't used truth in forever. My ash factory literally does everything I could ever ask for.

There are some very cool trick shot vids on YouTube with the tracking on truth and Ghally.
-
Sharper turns, less likely to miss if the target moves. That's about it
-
Truth once it locks on will almost guarantee a kill. Lock on is key. Without it just shoots like a regular rocket. The rockets will pass enemies and turn around after a second and come back to haunt them. I love my truth.
-
If you aim Truth at an enemy and flick your aim to the side while firing it will still aggressively track the target. Do that with any other launcher with tracking and it will miss most of the time.
-
It's got quicker lock ons and tighter turns while tracking. I was playing with both the raid launcher and bellows with tracking and it takes a moment longer to get the "tone." And that moment is usually enough to make a difference.
-
Truth is just more reliable than the average rocket launcher, tighter tracking efficiency and it can almost guarantee you a kill once you lock onto someone and fire. Legendary launchers can still net you kills. But won't be as reliable in terms of tracking, sometimes they'll make wide/loose turns and crash into a wall or the ground where the enemy was a second or two ago. But that was before taken king launched, since then I haven't played around with truth or any other tracking launcher. So it's possible they may have changed some things. I'd like to know!

Just search destiny truth trick shots, watch a few of the 30 second clips
