By bedmas (or pemdas as you call it) you must do what is within the parentheses first.

Yeah so you add it and get 3

Then multiply the 3 by the 2 as you must get rid of the parenthesis first. Then you do the 6÷6 to get 1

But the order of Multiplication and division is left to right so you divide first.

Yeah, my trouble is all those years of variables fried my thinking when it comes to simple numbers. The way I was thinking would be more appropriate for: 6x÷2(1x+2x)
