9 now I have to deal with math enough all day

Edited by NJayUK: 3/2/2016 8:56:30 PMIt's 9 I checked by typing it exactly as shown in op's post 6÷2(1+2)= i.e. no spaces into several calculators including calc app on phone. They all came back with 9. The issue with people applying pemdas etc is they are taking each letter in turn which isn't what they acronym stands for. It really needs to be written as PE MD AS and the grouped letters are carried out left to right if they BOTH appear in the equation.

Op switched the 1 and 2 in the parenthesis. It's 9

BODMAS Brackets first (1+2)=3 Division 6/2= 3 Multiplication 3(3) = 9 Your welcome.

Edited by BIGH1001: 3/2/2016 8:05:52 PMIf we assume between the gap of the 2 and open bracket is a multiply (as is usually the case in algebra). Then we follow BODMAS, the answer is 9
-
6÷2(2+1) (2+1)=3 6÷2(3) 6÷2=3 3(3)=9 Solution is 9. Next.
-
6/2 (1+2) 3 (1+2) 3 (3) 9 If you're apply the OoO and no other function, 9 should be your final answer
-
The answer is -2

Edited by Wortle: 3/2/2016 5:57:09 PM9 right? 6÷2(1+2) (1+2)=3 6÷2*3 6÷2=3 3*3=9

1 right? I'm pretty sure that's how it works... If I'm wrong, please explain. I don't know how order of ops works for 2(1+2) is it counted 2*(1+2) or is it just 6?
