Flame shield has been in Destiny since vanilla, why is it such a big deal now?

  • Dude, flame shield had been the bane of defenders since day 1. Where have you been?

  • Mida was in game vanilla as well but only after Y1 was over did it pick up. Thanks to other nerfs and buffs other things have risen. In Y1 i would rarely see a warlock with viking funeral they would all use nova bomb or self rez with fusion nads. Bunch of shit has changed and now all you ever see is viking funeral with firebolts every 3 or 4 games there is 1 warlock NOT using fire bolts with sunsinger. And who would? It is basically a grenade form of Y1 thorn. Same burn damage and time just a tad bit less damage from the nad itself. It's more of the annoying burn damage it takes 14 seconds after the nad has touched you to go through all the burn damage and regen health. And for half of that you are a 1 shot from anything. Even lightning grenades don't do that much damage. Only grenades that should bring you that low or kill you is fusions or any grenade that can stick to a player.

Because people didn't know how to use sunsinger in crucible, and voidwalker had blink and shotguns were popular.

  • This brings up a great point. Players overall are better at the game now than in Y1. So, it makes sense that things that weren't OP before seem OP due to the increase in player skill. IMO Bungie needs to provide a check/counter to every playstyle/meta. It's just unrealistic to chase after perfect balance in a PvP video game. While I applaud Bungie for trying this long, as most other developers just stop supporting a game and the community takes over ownership, it's time to stop chasing the balanced dragon and embrace Fire/Ice.

People didn't know how to effectively use grenades to make aggressive pushes. Glide was considered shit. Nobody used radiance ever.
