Im just gonna list options available (or therefore what was relevant for each year) please add to it by letting bungie know in the comment section.
year 1:
-2 raids
-Around 12 strikes in heroic playlist (Vanguard Dragon)
-Prison of elders
-Petra venj quests/bounties and rewards
-Variks quests/bounties and rewards
-Around 13 maps in pvp
-Around 6 pvp modes (10 including those modes that changed on a bi-weekly basis)
-re-rolling guns at gunsmith
-random events while patrolling any planet
-Eris quests/rewards
Year 2:
-1 raid
-around 8 strikes in heroic strikes (most year 1 strikes taken away in heroic playlist)
-gunsmith quests/rewards
-around 20 maps in pvp
-Around 8 pvp modes (15 including those modes change on a bi-weekly basis or so)
-new events on a bi-monthly basis or so (SRL, festival of the lost, crimson days)
(I am excluding Iron banner and trials of osiris since they were both relevant on both year 1 and year 2.)
I don't understand why bungie still has ALL the coding and software for year 1 options in the game yet does not make it relevant.
My opinion and my point of view is: there was more relevant stuff to do in year 1 than in year 2. Maybe only the PVP options have become better but not significantly. SRL and crimson doubles was cool (but why take it away?) Of EVERYTHING the game has to offer less than 50% is actually relevant. I can still access year 1 raids and prison of elders, but for what? Just to reminisce on how cool it was back then when you got to kill atheon and crota? Not worth it. Plus, it is impossible to find anyone who wants to do those raids anymore, so even if you really wanted to do the raids just for the fun of doing them, good luck finding FIVE other players that are interested. I'm pretty sure destiny doesn't even add matchmaking for year 1 raids or poe 35 since you wouldn't even be able to find other players through matchmaking. (I wonder if you still find people with matchmaking on poe 28 LOL).
The only one thing I didn't agree with in year 1 was re-rolling guns because it became really easy for everyone to get a god-roll on any gun. (Hidden hand for snipers and shot package for shotguns, etc.).
My final say is: either erase all the year 1 stuff that is just eating up my ps4's data storage or make it relevant again. (I like my second option better).
I'm pretty sure I left stuff out from the list I made for each year, please add to it or comment what you liked and disnt like from each year or what you think bungie should do about it.

Your post is flawed somewhat as you are comparing a full year to a partial year. Perhaps you should revisit this topic in about 6 months. Now, if you wanted to compare equal time since each year started, what you have is mostly accurate. However, it would have to be adjusted to exclude anything from HoW as that came after this time last year (May 19, 2015 is the official release date) and limit it to just vanilla and TDB.
