I don't think grimoire = skill.
I do believe that grimoire = time invested which = lots of practice. There is a lot of PvP based grimoire. Even if you're not great at PvP, playing all those games for wins has to lead to you being a bit of a better player in the long run.

And in my own personal experience it rings true. That being said I have played with folks with a high grimoire that were very mediocre. Also I have played with low grimoire people and they were great. So there are exceptions to the rule. Edit. I would like to add that I'm not in agreement with 4600+ mainly because the pvp aspect of it but 4100 or more at least let's me know you have time invested in the game and should know what you are doing.
