Ok, before I go on a long spiel, grimoire is honestly really dumb and shows NO representation of skill what so ever.
People like me either a) don't feel it's worth wasting 6 hours of their lives on a guide farming stupid little ghost that give no real legit reward, and quite frankly it really isn't worth some stupid number. Please explain to me why it's worth it. b) 4600 grimoire is insane. You could have done kings fall 26,000 times and not have that much, yet can solo it faster with 4 people of that then with your team of 6 46k grimoire
I also want to ask why. Just why. Why the hell would you was hours of your life farming little ghosts around the world using guides off the internet for some stupid number? If you say that takes skill your completely wrong. The only reason I'd EVER do that is if I had nothin else to do for the next ten hours, and I have a life, so that barely happens.
TL/DR: Only low lives with no life spend precious hours of their lives (not that they have them) on the internet running around the destiny universe collecting little dead lights for a number. That you for your time and this has been zeepenguin. I'm out!

I'm just confused as to how anyone would find that fun, and those last few sentences made zero sense

It's not the same for time spent in a game because it's not essential for anything Grimoire is a meaningless "add on" to destiny's time consuming grind and you either do it because you're a nerd and want it or you have nothing better to do
-
Exactly
-
You are assuming you have to ACTIVELY seek grimoire for it to go up. You don't. Simply play the game, and over time you will rack it up from doing things over your time played.
-
If you want a high grimoire than yes you do have to actively seek it
-
No many people said they don't actively seek it and are at 4400 that is pretty high
