[b]Chapter 2: The Tower[/b] Maya was showing me around the Tower, home of the Guardians. “That way is towards the Speaker, but he is busy right now. He has not been talking to anybody since the Hive appeared on Earth.” “The Hive?” “Yes, the Hive are a race of ancient insect like beings that have been our greatest threat since the Collapse. The Collapse is the fall of our Golden Age.” I suddenly got a flashback. I was sitting in an office with someone else. Suddenly, a large ship came out of orbit. It did not look anything like an Orbit Jumper. Smaller ships came from it and started firing on the city. A four-armed being dropped out of one of the smaller ships and shot me. “Hello?” “Huh, what?” “You stopped moving for a minute.” “A minute?” “Do you not know what the units of time are?” “I do, it’s just… it went by so quick.” “Are you starting to remember something?” “Yeah.” “Is there any explanation why you are wearing old armor?” “I just woke up.” “OK, I have some weapons and armor in my Vault, something in there should fit you.” We went to the Vaults and Maya pulled out a large selection of weapons and armor. I chose my armor and put it on. After putting the chest-plate on, I felt my heart stop beating regularly and start beating like some kind of code. “I know I am asking much, Promethean, but I may need your help.” “What?” “A while ago, an Exo visited me to warn me of a Vex uprising. She recently told me to go to the Reef, which is in the asteroid field between Mars and Jupiter. She said that the Queen knew of the location of the Gate to the Black Garden, the home of the Vex.” “And you need me to…” “Help me out. But first we need the eye of a Gate Lord.” “A Gate Lord?” “Yes.” We started packing up for the trip. Maya gave me the coordinates and we took off. I remembered what Riksis and Rahn told me I needed to do. “Hey, Maya, I was told by some four-armed creatures that I needed to tell them about an entrance to the city.” “Promethean, those are the Fallen. Do not trust them. They are scavengers.” “Why don’t we help them though?” “They see us as a threat. They think we took their ‘Great Machine’, which is actually the Traveler, even though it came to us.” I said nothing after that and we entered slipspace.
