Heh... From train heists to survival in the Remains. Who would have guessed?
-Bart Clayton
Bart "The Devil" Clayton was one of the more unpredictable and dangerous active Paladins during the Monarch Era, eventually killing his quadrant and going rogue in the Remains, where he took many scores before settling down with his wife, Molly Clayton.
Bart got his nickname, "The Devil", from his various unpredictable antics, usually involving robbery with his two partners in crime, "Lazy-Eye" Austin and Ranger Steve. Lazy-Eye Austin was a bandito Clayton begun his career with that was slowly going blind; artificial augmentations led Austin to have a second vision, where he could see through walls and instantly lock on to targets with his high powered shotgun, Rodeo Clown, making him a proficient enemy.
After a big train break-in, Austin and Clayton were eventually arrested and put in jail, not only before a young, ambitious small time officer named Steve Marston agreed to get the dynamic duo out in exchange for their score, buried under the Pervunt canyons. Steve proved to be more than proficient with explosives and high-tech weaponry, a new addition to the team.
Clayton has some pretty sweet loot. His robotic steed, Gray Lightning, is extremely fast, galloping at 250 miles per hour and having automated turrets on either side of the electric horse. His powerful .44 revolver, Tonto, is so impactful that it can rip through steel and anything weaker, making guaranteed exit wounds upon shooting another human.
Clayton's undoubted best take ever was a whopping 11.4 million dollars from a Monarchy Federal Bank, which in turn sent two Monarchy carriers full of soldiers equipping EMP Rail Guns, since they wanted to capture Clayton and his crew alive. Clayton soon after survived, but his crew went to a Monarchy Black-Prison. Clayton now lives with his wife, Molly Clayton, laundering his money on the fringes of The Remains on a distant and small planet.
