That's great news! I'm glad Bungie decided to give us some information on their future plans it's looking bright.
Now down to the basics... If you are wondering is it going to be free the answer is (Nope) expansion packs are not free but venture a guess and say it'll be cheaper than Destiny 2 in 2017.
Things I hope to expect in upcoming expansion for 2016...
1. More light levels
2. More Exotics! And yes that includes Year One!
3. New Armor & Weapons
4. New Raid
5. New PvP maps
6. New Hard modes for Raids
7. 1 or 2 New Strikes
8. Updated Story Line

Things I hope to expect in Destiny 2 (SQL) 2017
1. New player class
2. Expanded New Sub-Tree abilities! i.e; example: damage type tree for Titan's Void Spec etc.
3. More light levels
4. More Raids & Strikes
5. More Weapons & Armor
6. More Exotic weapons
7. Ability to upgrade your current weapons
8. Updated Storyline continues...

That all sounds great, but an idea I haven't been seeing from players is NEW PATROL SPACES; new (sparrow accessible) destinations on Earth, Venus, Mars, Europa if Destiny writers wants to visit a homeworld of the Nine, and especially Earth. Say what you will about Old Chicago, if it was supposed to be in current Destiny or not, but please let us visit Old Chicago!!!!

There will be no new raid. Just the heroic version of the same raid. New light 330.

Agreed for 2016.... But for 2017 I would expect a New Raid.

Also some new PvE modes. I don't just want upgrades

I think you'll see that easily, More PVP special events, Maps and Types no doubt. ;p

I just hope they're free events and not just silver events like SRL. That was my problem. Also please no time gates
