Thorn is op or not
Edit: I made a normal poll to see opinion of community. Totally forgot about how many 12 year old salty turds exist here. Without reading anything, they are telling me go to year 1 and other crap.
I am year 1. I have 2300+ hours in game. Have 7000 kills with thorn in year 1.
All of you turds who are telling me how it was op, this poll is not saying what was op year 1 or year 2.
Compare thorn in year 2 with other exotic weapons like red death, suros, boolean gemini.
Why I think thorn is op.
3 shot body shot with fastest fire rate hand cannon. Which usually is 4-5
Tracks enemy.
Stop recovery for 7 effing seconds
All of you who are telling me you can counter it, for sure you can counter it. Problem is, most probably it will still kill you if other person is even half decent.
Please post your honest opinion. Now by honest I mean honest.
If you use it and like it, it's good but that won't change the fact that it's not op.

Becomes a little more powerful with the MotD, since DoT keeps shields from regenerating.

Thorn doesn't need to be nerfed. We ALL know that it was much powerful at a time. Now this gun is truly balanced. Leave it alone.

It has too much range. Hawkmoons range got destroyed but thorns didn't. The damage over time should've never been a thing. It should possibly mark the target so you. An see where the person is.

I used thorn yesterday in Crimson doubles and I have not played since the hardmode raid came out. Needless to say, I went positive in almost all my games.

The guns not OP, its just a tactic, if you can kill someone quicker with TLW then Thorn is completely irrelevant. Its meant to reduce the amount of enemies you fight at one time because the burn will make one enemy run away so he doesnt die while is health is getting lower, leaving you the opportunity to fight 1v1now that there's less enemies.

Had you asked me this roughly 5 months ago, I would have screamed yes, considering the weapon's ability to '2-shot look away'. However, the DOT damage was nerfed substantially, and the gun, while still requiring three shots to down a player, has a relatively high ROF for a hand cannon. Considering it is an exotic, and one that not many players could get their hands on, it's kind of nice to have a relatively decent competitor against MIDA Multi-Tool and The Last Word, especially this week with Crimson Doubles. Not many players seem to flock to it anymore, but it can't be denied that the DOT, while weak, will still help you get plenty of Post-Mortem medals. Making an Elimination round a draw is better than accepting a loss. Honestly, it's not the powerhouse it used to be, but Thorn is still a decent weapon for your primary. However, I don't see the stacking DOT winning any PvE awards any time soon, even if it gets brought over to Year 2.

It's still a pain in the ass but whenever I get shot by a thorn I reposition, regenerate and find a way to melt them with my hawksaw or mida. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Personally I think thorn is OK now, but I can see why it annoys people. For full disclosure, in year 1 I used thorn all the way through its dominant period, but I dismantled mine at the start of year 2 and have not used it since. I think the reason I think it is OK is that in year 1, when for a time it was more widespread than now, and felt more lethal, I became used to being hit by it and immediately disengaging to avoid a second shot (potentially lethal with 2 head shots). I still do that so it is quite rare for me to be hit 3 times now. If I had come to the game in year 2, when most hand cannons feel weak, and thorn itself is nowhere near as commonly used, I might want a nerf. It is a top tier gun in spite of not having a year 2 version.

I pulled Atheon's Epilogue out of my vault. Frikkin' awesome gun right now and it melts Thornies fast. Thorn is not OP btw, just frikkin' annoying.

Thorn eats your screen and your soul. It makes a player angry, hatred dulls their senses enough that they continue to sacrifice themselves to its glory. Thorn does not discriminate. All guardians are its victims, waiting to be consumed, devoured, and ultimately turned to embrace it. Thorn is eternal. Nerf could not stop it. Time cannot stop it. Avoid the crucible if you wish to escape Thorn's kiss. A wise man said there is no shame in fleeing, aside from the cowardice and failure of it.

Really ask you self how often do u die in cruicible to a hc? There are prob 4 or so hc still worth using... why not just make hc obsolete and remove them from the game.

3 RepliesAt least thorn in year 1 rewarded you for headshots(not saying it's hard to headshot with thorn). It doesn't matter if you get a headshot or bodyshot, it's a 3 shot kill regardless.[spoiler]I believe only a titan with max armor and a chest piece armor upgrade can survive a 3 shot body shot(but this is an extreme circumstance)[/spoiler]
