Prior to the holiday break we mentioned a second, larger update slated for Spring. That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability.
Beyond that, the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full Destiny sequel in 2017.
As work wraps up in the weeks ahead, look for more details about the Spring content, as well as more information about our bigger projects in the months that follow.
Thanks for your patience, and thanks for playing.

I hope it's a Free expansion (probably not). We've spent loads of money though.
Overall I hope the expansion out does every other expansion for this game as a ode to the conclusion of Destiny 1.
[b]But if I have to buy it I will. At least I don't have to buy Destiny 2 this year after all.

Nice poll feedback everyone! If you haven't guessed if you're option is not available in the poll please express it in the comments below ;)

I won't be buying Destiny 2, mostly because it will (or at least it SHOULD be) only for current gen and i don't see myself upgrading from my 360 anytime soon. So hopefully whatever this expansion is will he worth playing as a way to end my Destiny career. It's been (mostly) a good run. I've had a good time for the majority of it.

Sounds like the update will be free, dlc probably won't be. I hope they update most of the year 1 content to year 2. If they do I wouldn't have a problem with buying the new dlc.
-
Would pay for
-
I'll actually play this game again if the dlc is free. And see if I want destiny 2 by trying that dlc
-
hope it's free if you have all dlc.

#freeornotplaying

It will probably be dissapointing, thats the feeling i get from bungie these days. We'll see though, not buying the hype though
-
Big is a very subjective word, I'll wait for more information before I get too invested.
-
Personally, this news is great. The update was concise and gave us direction. A slight vision for the year ahead. That's all I wanted. - Spring Update confirmed to have new gear AND PVE content geared towards replayability - There Will be an expansion later this year - Destiny 2 launches in 2017 -Bungie will give us more specific information about the spring update in the near future Absolutely wonderful communication Bungie. No sarcasm intended. Exactly what I want from an update.
-
I don't care how big it is, just make it a reasonable price. 15-20$
-
Honestly destiny fans should hope for the best but expect the worst. Be cautious about anything bungie says and don't just jump immediately on the hype.
-
If this is another set of challenges, like jumping challange or so on I'll be annoyed
-
I'm gonna guess the spring update will be something similar in size to the dark below, for free as it's an update. We hopefully will finally get the rest of those exotics. But the expansion in the fall (reveal at E3 again?) Will NOT be free. No reason to think it ever would be.
-
Just excited to get some fun new PvE content. I hate to say it but I'm slowly getting burned out on this game. I really hope this new content will be interesting.
-
Most likley only year one that we have Played for a year.
-
It won't be free :/

This community is very unpleasant. A few days ago it was non stop talk about how they are only concerned about PVP and how they failed to mention anything about PVE. And then when they do, it's all about the is the expansion going to be free or not. I get that most people don't wanna spend a dime given TTK track record but I'll say its by far the biggest and the best DLC so far. So its safe to assume the next one will do better. Wait till it drops before hating or liking it depending on how well it does. Perhaps the reason why they moved destiny 2 till next year is to produce a game we will love. I know you can't please everyone but all you have to admit there's a conscious decision to try on their part. I understand that this is a forum and as such everyone is free to air their point of view. But I've learnt not to judge a product before even using it. Granted this product is inform of a dlc. Have your own constructive feedback. And don't emulate what's in vogue just so that your audience thinks you're cool. That said I welcome this news with open arms. And I'd like to get more information. :)

update will be free
guessing y2 vog and ce and the exotics that are in game just locked away
im pretty hyped about the "expansion" tho hope its got lots of stuff maybe even a new raid???
it wont be free tho
-
I'd like to think this would quell some of us who are antsy in the pantsy. But probably not. Still, this is an exciting update. PVE. New gear. Higher light. D2. Haters gonna hate but I'm digging it.
-
Your post is biased, where is the option for could not give a single f, bungie is hands down the most retarded developer going? Cause I pick that one
-
HoW was way better than TTK.
-
I already pre ordered the Destiny 2 collectors edition that comes with 50ft Ethernet cable

Annnnnd waiting for the snowflakes to bitch when the spring update is just the rest of the year 2 exotics, time gated missions for said exotics, old strikes coming to Herioc, maybe old raids coming to Y2 and the expansion at year end is HoW size and $20... Getting my popcorn ready...
-
Now was that hard bungie. Just tell peeps "We getting shit done, will take a while so chill. Bitches" That's all that's needed. Now peeps will go nuts speculating and think shit up, and riding the hype train.
-
Free or not, I hope the new PvE content is more than just a raid.
