this is more of a suggestion for a disc sequel but please take note of it.
the ships are cool but what the hell is the point of it being customizable if all they do is float around in the center your screen for a minute at time. what if when in orbit instead of flying around in formation they linked up and you could walk around inside of your fireteam's ships. they would act like showcases, you could pick up bounties there instead of loading in the tower and you could go deeper into the process of transmatting which would stop people from giving bungie crap about having 27 weapons at a time, and you could even have a ship vault that you could share with you're fireteam. I don't care if if you have to give back the item when the person who let you borrow their item leaves the fireteam.
now onto the problem of the ships only have a cockpit well in sequels we will have to leave the solar system at some point because we are simply running out of planets the last two that we could walk on because the others are gas giants are Mercury and Pluto which is technically not a planet anymore. Even with the tripled life span of humans there is not enough technological advancement that would happen before our guardians were dead to make trips to other solar systems in a few minutes as they are depicted in the game so the ships would need to start having living accommodations. at least a sitting area.
and this would make the ships customization worth something even without ship battles but wouldn't it be great to be able to fast travel but also just fly around the solar system and explore while fighting other enemy ships and you would have to fast travel between solar systems ... I digress
even without that I feel it would be a great addition to this game franchise.
