I ranted at a guy about this recently, because twice in IB Rift he took the heavy ammo straight away by himself even though me and another guy were clearly almost there. If he waited 1 second we would have got the heavy, and this happened twice.
It's definitely a pet peeve, but I'll always wait unless we start getting pressured by a possible enemy FoH or Nova.

Sometimes it's necessary to keep the other team from getting both. I'd rather take it in a pinch and catch a rocket blast right away losing it, than give them double the heavy. But yeah, most situations the teams split and there's time to wait.

My example was on Vertigo, with no danger of losing the heavy.
