The battle for argus three
The seventh army group, pride of the Volga sector had been deployed on peacekeeping detail. That's when the damn Rebels turned the peaceful population into a army. That's when the men of the Volga sector showed the Rebels who the better fighters were. As fierce and devoted as they were, the rebels had no heavy armor or air support.
The fighting was brutal, hand to hand in some cases, the local loyalist militias had the worst of the fed causalities. Armed with last gen assault rifles and armor they were on even footing with the rebels. There were just more rebels than loyalists.
The fighting had destroyed the major cities by the third week. By the third month any civvies had been evacuated or were dead. Despite all their bluster and talk about saving the people, the Feds were the only ones to attempt an evac, which was targeted by the rebels.
The following is from the journal of Pavel volkov, captain of bravo company 3rd battalion, 9th Guards rifles division.
I used to think this backwater world was peaceful, that the people here enjoyed the protections of the fed. Now, I know different. We are currently camped out inside the remains of a children's hospital, one that was thankfully evacuated early on, yet I cannot shake the feeling this place gives me. I stepped on a child's bear, it was worn and dusty from the fighting but it reminds me that this used to be a place for innocent children to get better. Now it's a fortified military position. We lost ten men storming this place, took down thirty. Two prisoners, one a young man, barely old enough to hold the rifle we took from his shaking hands, the other a woman, thirtyish, still thinks we're going to -blam!- her. That has only happened once under my command and the man who did it payed very dearly for that. At any rate the two are being held by Ivanov in the server room. I will write more later.
Volkov placed his journal back where he kept it stashed and picked up his rifle. His helmet's HUD illuminated the darkened hospital, allowing him to see. His men were busy fortifying what was left of this accused place, the armor had been called away to help in another fight, so they were on their own. Penal troops were enroute to relieve his men so that the much more experienced and valuable guards troops could get rest and relaxation. For now he would hold on. He got out his tac pad and went through his mail, something to do at any rate. In another fifteen minutes his shift would begin again and the current group of soldiers would rest like his shift was.

Edited by GingerlyWalnut3: 1/31/2016 5:52:04 AMA hologram lying dormant on his desk suddenly came to life, bypassing the normal waiting message due to its urgency. The imposing figure of Phaedrus, one of the senior Commanders of the Federation and a legendary warrior in his own right, stood on the other side. No one had ever seen the face that lies behind the unadorned black mask, or the body underneath the large cloak and body armor. He spoke in a voice that was filtered through a voice distorter, yet also was somehow crisp and trustworthy. "Captain Volkov, report."
-
The Russian snapped to attention and saluted. "Commander, the hospital has been seized with minimal loses. The penal troops are on their way to relieve us.
-
Phaedrus makes no discernible movements, "Good. What of the Rebellion?"
-
"They are on the run. Our superior equipment is keeping them that way."
-
Phaedrus dips his head slightly, perhaps in acknowledgement of your skills. "Good work, -Major. CENTCOM will request a more detailed status report, of course, but for now enjoy the fruits of your labor. The work of you and your men have just pacified an entire planet. Dismissed." With that, Phaedrus disappears, but the sensation of your promotion remains.
-
There would be much celebrating later on the ships. The local militias and an occupation army would be shipped here. Probably the 12th, or perhaps the 32nd army groups, but the 7th would be leaving, now that the job was done.
-
Sure enough, in the days that followed the 32nd Division sent several contingents of soldiers to serve as peacekeepers as repairs and elections commenced. Argus-3 was safely in Federation hands for the time being. (End)

Edited by SilverPulse620: 1/31/2016 5:05:45 AM*a fighter descends into the broken area, and Quickblast climbs out of it "Wow. Must have taken a wrong turn somewhere."-Golden *he pulls out his energy shotgun, and scans the area
-
note if he's a rebel they have no air superiority, the fed has the place on lock. Fighters wouldn't penetrate, even stealth ones.
The recent signs of battle are intermixed with the rubble. Soldiers can be heard.
-
His fighter has a wormhole FTL device on it. Also, he isn't a rebel. So, nothing to worry about.
"Okay. Why does it always seem that I always seem to end up in the middle of a conflict. I hope he is here, or I just wasted three perfectly good hours getting here."-Golden *he walks to what is left of a nearby building, his weapons ready
-
The soldiers are busy fortifying the area, you can tell they're fed troops, 7th army to be exact.
-
"Well then, time to meet the local Feds."-Golden *he pulls out a flaming energy sword, and walks towards the soldiers
-
The soldiers see him and jump behind the fortified area. The sound of rifles being charged can be heard, a man speaks to you. "Halt or be fired on!"
-
*he seems unphased by the guns being pointed at him "Relax. I am not here to fight you. I am looking for an old friend. Blue and white armor, electricity shooting off his arm. Couldn't have not seen him. Know where he is?"-Golden
-
"No can't say we've seen him. Plenty of dead rebels though."
-
Edited by SilverPulse620: 1/31/2016 6:15:42 AM"He isn't a rebel. Thanks for your cooperation. I hope your deaths in battle are painless."-Golden *he starts to make his way towards the building
You may want to stop him.
as this went on Angela a rebel stealth unit was hiding in the air ducts of the hospital. Her armor was hiding any thermal reading she was giving off. She had been trained for this by the fed giving her an edge as she crept through the air vents not making a sound
-
The sound of a guitar being played in a melancholy tune can be heard as can a few voices. Suddenly a shout is hear and the shuffling of boots. The penal troops had arrived. The muffled voice of captain volkov and the commander of the penal troops is the only thing in the silence.
-
she listens carefully to them
-
"I just don't understand volkov, the fed provides everything for them yet they still rebel. Did you know on my planet people still steal bread to get by? And yet the people here have everything provided for them. Food, water, medicine. And they think they are still owed more. What more?" "Viktor, if I honestly knew I would propose we give it to them. This war has killed to many of my men. Not to mention the civilians."
-
she moves to a different area while still listening
-
"Yes, yes, you were always a little soft when it came to these terrorists. At any rate, you and your men can leave now, get some rest. The scum and I will hold here."
-
a helmet forms over her head from her armor and she scans all of them with her hud

There are A LOT of Feds, markings show 7th army, not to be trifled with. The guards all have shields and the penal troops are veterans. The two officers are in one corner.
