I looked my sniper rifle precision kill ratio on destiny tracker the other day and I was wondering what the community considers a 'respectable' number ratio. I think a good sniper knows when to take the body shot for a kill instead of going for the headshot on a low health enemy.
I'll post my numbers in an edit when I look them up again.
Edit:
Hunter: 52.3% (514 kills)
Warlock: 51.1% (221 kills)
Titan: 63.6% (203 kills)
What's your ratio? What do you consider a 'good' ratio to be?

I'm good now?
-
I'm @ 80%
-
12000+ precision kills sitting 75-80%
-
Top 2% precision kills. Blame halo.
-
Mine is 83% - 88% depending on character and game mode. And around 96% with patience and time.
-
72.6% on Titan with 3307 Sniper kills total 75.2% on Hunter with 706 Sniper kills total 74% on Warlock with 335 Sniper kills total
-
I apparently have a 69% ratio. When did this happen
-
Stop saying "if you play smart". I've seen someone post "if you play smart, half your shots are bodies... Wtf? There's only some situations were it is better not to try to hit the head, and those situations are few and far between. The only time you should go for a body shot is if you cannot see the enemies head, such as on stairs or other places. Having a 50% is not good, that just means you can't hit headshots for shit.
-
78 something percent ish?
-
Edited by Ravn_21: 2/1/2016 3:21:12 PMI think the people putting anything above 70% have no idea what tactical thinking is or they hard scope 24/7. There are many situations where a quick shot to the body is way better. Eidt: Since I apparently rustled some jimmies... Yes there are some players who are insanely good at sniping that have easily 70%+ on headshots, I still stand by my statement that the vast majority of them are hardscopers.

Maybe

Body shots all day
-
I think it's slightly faulty as a way to look at whether it makes someone a good sniper or not. A better measure would be sniper kills as a % of total sniper shots. That way you get credit for taking a body shot which kills an already weakened target. As a disclaimer, I think my precision kill % is something like 45%. I already know I am a bad sniper.
-
Does it matter? Snipers are meant to kill, not for flashy headshots. Just go for the bodyshot if they're weak. And if you hit the body by accident, just body again......

Edited by Stew: 2/1/2016 1:33:16 PMHoly crap I looked at the tracker and it says im in the top 1% with most kills in a game at 76 and 1% with combat rating at 611.
-
Edited by Erijian: 1/31/2016 4:42:04 AMI'd say around 65%. There are a lot of times where a quick body shot is much more reliable.
-
People like Kjhovey have around 65. If you are a smart sniper, 65 is good. Know when to go for the body shot.
-
Around 65 average across characters is decent. Precision kills arnt everything. If you see somebody has taken damage then you dont aim for the head. 90% is for stat whores who need to get a more fun hobby.
-
Did they die? Yes? That is all that matters.
-
Wow i have 72.5%
-
Respectable and Sniper is an oxymoron. Wanna shoot at targets? Go do target practice. Be like a Viking, die in the glory of battle, or be confined to Hel
-
Warlock: 4263 kills, 80.5% Hunter: 2741 kills, 79.8% Titan: 957 kills, 73.7% (WoL+Icebreaker, best combo)
-
Lol I couldn't find mine...
