Making this thread half out of curiosity, and half out of frustration.
Just yesterday I had my headset mic stop working on me. I've had the Xbox stereo headset for just over a year now, and the mic just randomly stopped working.
Before owning this headset, I had been using my Tritton AX Pro headset, who's mic also quit on me.
Before that, yet another headset's mic had quit on me.
Long story short, I have 6 pairs of nice headphones, none of which have working mics at this point. I realize you can buy replacement mics for the Trittons, but it seems they are always out of stock, and from a little research I see it is a fairly common issue for the mic to go out on these.
So I'm curious if anyone else runs into this issue fairly often as well, or if I just have crap luck. Also, if you don't have my luck, and have had a nice headset for a long period of time (3+ years), what kind of headset do you have?

My TB XO One is doing good. Kinda frustrating how pricey headsets are on consoles, so easy to pick up some nice cheap stuff for my PC.

Edited by FlyinMcFlurry: 1/29/2016 5:26:17 PMMy old 360 turtlebeach x32 or something still work... Had me for at least 4 years. Point is turtlebeach makes some durable headsets. My Turtle Beach Atlas I got for the one when it came out still work great

I swear about everyone seems to have the money to blow on Astro's..
-
I've tried every major brand of headset and really love my Astros, I've never had a mic go out but if it does they're always in stock on their site. Astro a40 TR is what I use
-
I just got the Astro A40 Halo 5 edition. Matches seamlessly with my Xbox and controller lol. Very nice headset indeed. I r8 it a solid 10/10.

Turtle beach stealth 500x on my xbox one are great. But if you can get elite 800x they are awesome. For my ps4 I use the ps4 version Turtle beach elite 800. They are amazing.

The two best headsets I ever owned were the Turtle Beach Ear Force Deltas and my current headset which is the Astro A40 with Mix amp pro. Mix quality sucks on the A40 but the sound quality is phenomenal.
-
They're not the best, but I've had the Turtlebeach XO4's since they released and I still haven't had a problem with them.

I've owned the same pair of Astro A50's for at least 5 years. Although the internal battery sucks now (which is expected), everything else about them works fine. Been considering getting a new pair lately.

Get the Turtle Beach XO series. I recommend the XO7 (I have that one) or the XO4 (I know people with that one). It's sturdy and worth it.
Also, add me since I'll forget to add you.
Been using turtle beach 500x stealth since destiny release. I have nothing bad to say about them.
-
Sometimes it's the controller that shorts them out. Try getting a new controller.
-
My Turtle Beach X04s are great and pretty cheap, I'd recommend to anyone
-
TB XO Four Stealth! Great, less expensive headset!
-
Astros. Even the cheapest pairs will last you your life. Great quality build, amazing sound, not even just for gaming on console. Great headset all around
-
Get another Stereo Headset. They are amazing.
-
I have the Green/Gold Halo Astro A50's . They sound amazing! Im not a fan of cords/wires so I had to go with a good wireless pair. They were indeed expensive as hell, but the quality is def no joke . They hold a great battery life, and the comfort is 10/10 . And they are Halo Themed! How could you go wrong haha.
-
It's a shame you had problems with Tritton. My Tritton Kunai's for the Xbox 360 lasted me up until X1, and now I am stuck using the standard chat headset. Think I'm gonna shift away from traditional gaming headsets and buy myself some Sennheiser's or Audio Technica's.

I have turtle beach x12 but the mic adapter you need to get got them are complete fucking shit and like to break every 5 months or so. M$ need dat money milking
-
I've went through three Xbox mics in two years, both that I replaced the mics stopped working randomly. I had two wireless mics for my 360 that lasted me 7 years so I really hate having to buy a new one every once in awhile.

The Xbox Stereo Headset has just been my go-to this gen. Currently on my second one and, yeah, the mic on the first one inexplicably stopped working after about a year. They're relatively cheap and suit me just fine, so I don't think too much of it.
