Luke Smith is 'just' a programmer, in the end he gets told what to do and doesn't have much say in it.

It doesn't matter if he is only a programmer . He was the lead developer and he acted extremely irresponsible in last 16 months. His comments clearly put a huge separation between him and guardians. Thats why he has no place in the future of Destiny.
