Hi, before starting I understand that far worse things happen in the world but this is probably the worst thing that has happened to me. Yesterday I had some friends over to play Borderlands and go see a concert the next day. I live on a big piece of land so there is a gate that leads to a main road. So me and my pal decided to go down to our gate to check the mail and my dog came with us. My dog has to have a muzzle because she would attack our animals when she was outside.
Our gate is held shut with a chain and when we got down there it was loose so the gate was kinda open. It was open enough for my dog Molly to run out onto the street. When she came onto the street our neighbors German Shepard started to attack Molly and she couldn't fight back cuz she had a muzzle the other dog started to rip Molly apart right in front of me I started screaming and grabbed a rock and ran out to save my dog but this truck ran over my dog I was like 5 feet away. We carried her back to my house. We took her to the vet and put her down cuz she had a broken pelvis that went into her spine. I held her as she died and saw the life leave her eyes. I don't know what to do.
Edit 1: Thank you all so much for your support. There are still good people left in the world.
EDIT 2: Thank you some much guys, all of you have shown me so much support its unbelievable. I may not know all of you but I consider you all family if any of you guys EVER need to talk PM me please.

Just always remember the good times and maybe get a puppy and name it (your late dog's name) Jr. it makes you feel better that you're remembering him and that he will always be with you. I've never had a dog until 3 years ago she is still with us and she was a rescue but I know how you feel, I go to sleep with my dog every night and every night i look at her in my bed and tell/imagine to myself what the hell would I ever do without her, and what would I do in a situation like that.

Kill the neighbors dog and burn their house. Kill their family and make a video of it.

Edited by Caustic Alpaca: 1/28/2016 7:27:56 AMI know the feels all to well. My father in-laws (lives with us) dog killed my dog one day when we were all out. We got home and the mud room was just covered in blood and Rambos body.....it was terrible. It took everything I had in me not to kill his dog then and there. Since then his dog still lives with us and I see her everyday. I will never forgive her, ever. But to put my father in-law in same situation especially after everything he has done for us, taking his beloved dog from him just because I couldn't control myself and making him go through the same terrible experience just didn't seem right. Feelings will pass overtime, mine did, I consider myself a manly man, but I cried like a baby that night. Just don't go seeking revenge in the form of death to their dog. I know the feeling and it's just not right putting 2 dogs in the ground instead of 1.

Do you ever wonder what would have happened had your dog not had the muzzle on? Losing your pet sucks....but losing your pet knowing the pet was rendered defenseless by it's master...that's even worse. I get the purpose of the muzzle...but I'd never do that. The world is full of unexpected mishaps. I never own pets that could kill each other or aren't raised to get along together. It isn't impossible. Anyways, life has many learning experiences. Take it as that. I mean you never know. What if on the flipside, someone or something tried to attack you and your friend? Your dog would probably have backed you up. It can't do that with a muzzle on. You made the right decision though. One of my dogs had to be put down from a similar injury. Sucked really bad. It is what it is at the end of the day though. All tou can do is learn, grieve, and try your best to move on.

Sue the -blam!-ing neighbors. And also get a new dog, maybe a puppy to help take your mind off Molly.

Good riddance

Kill the dog

Read my status and my profile bio. You'll understand.
my condolences
That sucks man. Don't try to move forward so quickly. Take time to grieve. You will know when it's OK to move on. I would seriously look into your neighbors paying for the vet bill thanks to their dog. PM me if you need to vent

How was the concert?
-
Sorry for your loss man. The pain doesn't last forever, just feels like it will.
-
It was probably just a prank bro
-
Geeze my man...sorry to hear that. Think about the good times you and your dog had, that is what's important.
-
Damn sorry dude. Find something to keep your mind off of it, but not anything old, because that may remind you of it. Try to find something new that you're interested in.
-
Just a prank bro.....
-
So sorry bro. You'll feel better, trust me. Sorry about some other users. Some of them just always seem to find someone to shit on.

Edited by Stargazer_Lily: 1/27/2016 5:14:43 AMDid you throw the rock at the truck? Sorry for your loss. I had to put down my cat because the neighbors dog used her as a chew toy. And by put down I mean I had to shoot her because she wouldn't have made it to the vet. Edit: Call the police on your neighbors dog, what if that was a kid?

Edited by MicroChango: 1/27/2016 5:47:46 AMWho's German Shepherd was this? Have you spoken to the owner? Pretty sure that you could file some sort of lawsuit on their sorry little ass.

It's hard man... I have had 2 dogs that died. 1 died when I was asleep, he just went peacefully in the night. Got woken up, bawled like a baby for an hour. The other died while I was 4 states away. I've never had to see one go in front of me, but it was sad enough for me... I can't imagine how bad it is for you... Just remember the good times you had, and you'll get through it.
