So imo mida at the moment is unbalanced and has pretty much 0 drawbacks/flaws.
To start it's in a tier of scout that 4 shots to the head similar to voc tier but mida shoots faster so big advantage there in ttk. For some odd reason mida has a huge mag for a scout rifle at a wopping 21 bullets and on top of that it's base reload is maxed. Like in what way is a large clip with max reload balanced? You can just spam shots forever without having to reload its insane. There's no penalty for missing shots! On top of that because of a large mag and fast reload why would you ever use field scout or whatever the other perk is that's not lightweight. Then worst of all the mida without a doubt in my mind has high caliber rounds as a secret perk. Those high caliber rounds really make it so u can't compete with mida from long to mid range because your getting flinched like crazy. Also the zoom on midas scope is too close it's meant to be used at long range as a scout why is it so effective in mid and extended close range.
I'd love to hear what everyone has to say supporting or arguing against my opinion please comment with something to add to discussion.
Edit: a lot of ppl are touchy on the phrase op so i changed it.
I'm enjoying the healthy discussion in here. Although there's still a lot of people just bashing my post because they love their mida. Also a lot of ppl are assuming I'm bad because I'm criticizing mida I just want the weapon to stop out performing other weps in there intended ranges where a scout shouldn't win. Midas strength should lie in it's actual exotic perk the extra mobility and hair trigger which equates to good strafing, getting to advantageous positions faster, and faster reactions.
I don't understand why people are replying this because my post isn't about it but ill address it. the comment of "why are you just now complaining about mida and weren't last year?". The answer is easy in year 1 there was a much bigger issue of the 2 shot exotic handcannons that killed at scout range. Additionally I think the last weapon update was just in december? Correct me if thats wrong but the meta only recently set in so this is the most appropriate time to address mida. I know I'm not the only one thats experienced it but I've been in close quarters to mid range situations with a pulse or AR and midas high cal rounds cause my gun to kick up like crazy so I can't land shots but the mida's totally fine and continues to peg me. I don't understand in what world that makes sense for a scout rifle to out perform a mid or close range weapon in their intended ranges respectively isn't that the point of the weapon classes?
Another comment I'd like to address is "wow if its so good why don't you just use it". The thing is destiny is a game filled with many guns that surely aren't meant to just be there as filler. They all should be viable choice in certain ranges/situations. I don't want to be forced into using 1 or a few select guns that are top tier just to be competitive and have a chance at winning I like to have fun using all the guns. After all isn't that what they're there for?
I'm going to add suggested changes so people aren't so scared of a nerf.
I suggest:
mida's mag reduced to around 15 or the reload is cut in half
mida's secret hcr are removed and replace quickdraw or field scout on the midas perk tree with hcr
increase the zoom slightly on midas scope to make it more of a long range weapon and to not perform so well in closer gun fights.
Thanks for reading my post I hope to see more quality discussion and healthy debates.

MIDA is fine. Rewards headshots doesn't reward body shots. VoC and other scouts in that impact class can 4 shot with two body 2 heads. boolean gemini can 3 shot low armored players with Aggressive ballistics on. MIDA is fine
-
....just...no
-
It's been the same as it always has, scouts are just decent now, leave it alone... There's nothing 'unbalanced' about it. You can beat it. It's an exotic. Adapt.
-
The fact that Mida is even considered op now just goes to show where bungie has failed. This gun was good but hardly used in year one due to all the nerfs to good guns the average time to kill is so low that a reatively average gun is all that there is left to complain about. Example my year two spare change does 32 or 33 precision damage this gun use to do 38 just to compete with other guns. Weapons take so long to kill now everyone just uses special weapons because of the one shot kill potential. Primary weapons need a buff not all these nerfs
-
It's amazing that a year 1 gun that many hardly touched in pvp and was not considered good by many is now OP in year two, yet absolutely nothing about the gun itself has changed. What's next? Necrochasm

It's fine leave it alone

Edited by Meatonyourbuns: 1/26/2016 6:49:28 PMI've played against and with it plenty. The only reason it's getting complained about now is because it's out competing alot of pulse rifles.

Edited by Novabox: 1/26/2016 5:40:02 PMIt's op in crucible, mediocre in pve. It was my favorite y1 weapon and in year 1 it was decent in crucible. In Y2 I can't go over 1k/d without it, combined with sbmm. Edit - to be clear, would have no problem if other options were brought back closer to their original glory.
-
I put gun mida at close quarters with my zhalo anytime
-
I just bought one especially for Iron Banner. Mwa Ha Ha Ha
-
The only problem with mida imo is that it has way to many mags. Its 4 shot kill gun to the head, and without missing it can kill at least 5 people like what the hell.
-
Except at close ranges where it is almost completely useless.
-
It has received no changes for so long. And the second it came to y2. People started whining about hit op it isn't. It's the same it's always been. A very well balanced, well designed, effective, all-around exotic. You can do very well with it or you can do awfully with it. Kinda like the halo BR. A skilled band will do well with it, but that dosent mean it's op just because it's not super hard to use.
-
Yeah ok, get rid of high caliber rounds and undo the buff to its dmg archetype so it needs 4 headshots to kill again. It was 52 dmg to the head before the buff to low impact scouts
-
Edited by High Charity: 1/26/2016 4:04:31 PMExcept it's fine. Maybe you should try not being awful. Want to know its drawback? If you miss a headshot, almost every other gun in the game will kill you faster. Mida isn't even the fastest killing Scout Rifle by far either. It's awful up close, and doesn't even have any 'good' perks.
-
Also the bullet magnetism is way too high on it for a precision rifle. You get so many headshots that you really shouldn't.
-
Tbh if you don't hit headshots it can take a while to kill with MIDA. I found a flaw. Meaning your post is inaccurate OP.
-
It's not that it's op. I mean, comparatively, it is pretty bullshit. But it's mostly because everything else sucks.
-
Things need to be buffed above or close to the overall power of a scout since they've been that way for a year
-
You'll eventually get what you're asking for and then we'll all rotate to the next weapon that has the advantage. It's a never ending cycle. Why some people just don't get this is crazy to me. Every shooter has these kinds of weapons and any decent player realizes it and uses them. Whether it's a certain scope, weapon or strategy, there will never be an even balance and players will take advantage of it. It's all part of being a gamer.
-
Use the Boolean it's great at combating midas and other guns 3 shot head and 4 shot body
-
Remove high caliber rounds, that is all
-
It's has never been changed.

Edited by cuzzybubba1: 1/26/2016 3:55:23 PMVOC 3 shots and any more than 4 shots and MIDA will be a pellet gun just stop. **Edit.. could have swore VOC was a 3 shot at 73 per..

No it doesn't

Edited by ZippyTek: 1/26/2016 3:31:01 PMNope. *dusts off 320 MIDA for IB*
