So imo mida at the moment is unbalanced and has pretty much 0 drawbacks/flaws.
To start it's in a tier of scout that 4 shots to the head similar to voc tier but mida shoots faster so big advantage there in ttk. For some odd reason mida has a huge mag for a scout rifle at a wopping 21 bullets and on top of that it's base reload is maxed. Like in what way is a large clip with max reload balanced? You can just spam shots forever without having to reload its insane. There's no penalty for missing shots! On top of that because of a large mag and fast reload why would you ever use field scout or whatever the other perk is that's not lightweight. Then worst of all the mida without a doubt in my mind has high caliber rounds as a secret perk. Those high caliber rounds really make it so u can't compete with mida from long to mid range because your getting flinched like crazy. Also the zoom on midas scope is too close it's meant to be used at long range as a scout why is it so effective in mid and extended close range.
I'd love to hear what everyone has to say supporting or arguing against my opinion please comment with something to add to discussion.
Edit: a lot of ppl are touchy on the phrase op so i changed it.
I'm enjoying the healthy discussion in here. Although there's still a lot of people just bashing my post because they love their mida. Also a lot of ppl are assuming I'm bad because I'm criticizing mida I just want the weapon to stop out performing other weps in there intended ranges where a scout shouldn't win. Midas strength should lie in it's actual exotic perk the extra mobility and hair trigger which equates to good strafing, getting to advantageous positions faster, and faster reactions.
I don't understand why people are replying this because my post isn't about it but ill address it. the comment of "why are you just now complaining about mida and weren't last year?". The answer is easy in year 1 there was a much bigger issue of the 2 shot exotic handcannons that killed at scout range. Additionally I think the last weapon update was just in december? Correct me if thats wrong but the meta only recently set in so this is the most appropriate time to address mida. I know I'm not the only one thats experienced it but I've been in close quarters to mid range situations with a pulse or AR and midas high cal rounds cause my gun to kick up like crazy so I can't land shots but the mida's totally fine and continues to peg me. I don't understand in what world that makes sense for a scout rifle to out perform a mid or close range weapon in their intended ranges respectively isn't that the point of the weapon classes?
Another comment I'd like to address is "wow if its so good why don't you just use it". The thing is destiny is a game filled with many guns that surely aren't meant to just be there as filler. They all should be viable choice in certain ranges/situations. I don't want to be forced into using 1 or a few select guns that are top tier just to be competitive and have a chance at winning I like to have fun using all the guns. After all isn't that what they're there for?
I'm going to add suggested changes so people aren't so scared of a nerf.
I suggest:
mida's mag reduced to around 15 or the reload is cut in half
mida's secret hcr are removed and replace quickdraw or field scout on the midas perk tree with hcr
increase the zoom slightly on midas scope to make it more of a long range weapon and to not perform so well in closer gun fights.
Thanks for reading my post I hope to see more quality discussion and healthy debates.

Yet I still get sniped after landing 2-3 headshots with MIDA on a sniper. GG.
-
It's always been this way, it just sadly became a meta gun. Stop asking for nerds please.
-
Hmmmmm lets think logically. So pulse rifles got nerfed after a slew of other guns being nerfed and is the cause of Mida being so overused....hmmmmm it's almost like nerfing guns would make other guns more viable Maybe buffing others would do the trick......but that's just me....
-
3 head shots one body shot to kill...
-
Try to get in a small room with a Conspiracy Theory and beat him with MIDA.
-
High impact scouts like the last extremity and IB scout have a faster ttk. They're legendaries, so how is mida op again?
-
I won't put you on blast but I heartily disagree with you. The Mida Multi Tool is pretty much the exact same gun it was in Year 1 but it didn't get near as much use. Why? First, the Vex Mythoclast and Suros Regime reigned supreme. They actually were overpowered at first. Then came Thorn and The Last Word. They also were overpowered. Mida isn't OP because none of Midas perks are all that great to begin with. It's base stats are average at best. Third Eye can be found on any number of Legendaries, its middle perks aren't anything to brag about, and its signature perk boosts speed and trigger pull. It doesn't have poison, life gain, or a way to boost damage. It's just popular. It's always been GOOD but always was kept down by Thorn and the others. This meta is arguably the most balanced it's ever been. That may not be saying much but it's improvement. When Trials first came out, Thorn dominated. Like to 80% of the meta. TLW was second in terms of usage with Red Death rounding out the Top 3. If you wanted to have a legit chance in PvP, you'd start with Thorn simply because it gave you the best chance to win. Last night in Trials, my first Trials in Y2, I was killed by Mida, Doctrine, Red Death, Hung Jury, The Last Word and I'm sure there were others that I cant remember. Unlike Y1 Trials, however, I wasn't consistently killed by a green poison on my screen.

Edited by SiIver K: 1/27/2016 1:48:06 AMSpam shots? U get wrecked in doing so 4hk but only with headshots. Not as consistent as u may think Only good players will wreck with mida, less players use it now for a reason Bad players using it can't use it well enough to be considered a threat, their mediocre or bad accuracy will more than give u enough time to finish them off. Easily Bad players using mida aren't a threat or in any way make them a better player Flawed logic from lack of experience op since only mobile players with great accuracy make mida shine. U overestimate the average destiny player, they're not mobile at all. Most players stand still when shooting, double peak, never strafe, play horizontally, can't hit mobile targets, and have awful timing

If you want to nerf something, nerf the stupidly hard black spindle mission.
-
It's a exotic genius... It's supposed to feel a little op compared to its legendary counterparts. Damage is in line with legendary scouts soo the perks and stats are what makes it a exotic. You made this big rant like you're some pvp weapon balance expert and believe it needs "tweaks" Play the game and stop bitching, I'm tired of players like you making these threads about how some weapons need "tweaks" (nerfs) like mida's mag size and reload speed are breaking the game...it's a exotic

Don't worry, I'm here to give you another perspective. MIDA is a low impact, high fire rate scout, which means that it's supposed to fire faster, but it's class is actually bugged. If you look at something like the shadow, or the Y2 ToO scout, it's fire rate is actually only three quarters of what other guns with the same impact have, as well as the fact that the perks on MIDA aren't very useful over all. You comment about it besting ARs and PRs is valid, but at the same time, you have to figure in skill gaps between players. Just because you're using an AR at close range doesn't mean that MIDA shouldn't be able to kill you at all. Just because you're using that AR at the intended range while facing MIDA doesn't mean you'll win out every single time. This is one of those things where people say that theory is fact when it isn't. So... let's switch up a bit. I like to use TLW. It's a fun gun to use, it's a solid weapon, BUT, I hate hip firing. Does that mean that I shouldn't be able to get a kill? Should I be forced into hip firing for the benefit, or should I be able to use the gun how I please? MIDA, while intended for medium to long ranges, can still kill at AR range against an AR. It can, it does, and it will. Why? Because people using ARs are reckless, they know they have a good amount of ammo, they know they can spray you down, and they know that the TTK for an AR is relatively low, but that arrogance is often upset because all it takes is four rapidly fired shots to bring somebody down. Also, take into consideration the name of the weapon. "Multi tool." It's good in all situations, but doesn't excel at any. The gun isn't over powered. Actually, it's not even that strong, especially not when compared to scouts in the same Impact/RoF archetype with better perks. People use it because it's easy to get, and it's good out of the box.
-
Well it's had a heck of a drawback with this Iron Banner as I four shotted numerous opponents taking only a sliver of their health off while both of us had a green connection. Needless to say I was on the losing end a lot. Wouldn't call that op.
-
Leave the mida alone nothing wrong with it
-
You just aren't engaging MIDA users smartly plain and simple. This gun gets outgunned by pulse rifles and autos rifles for the amount of flinch they deal which interrupts the head shot flow that is the scout rifle.
-
Your right it does need to be changed. I think they need to up the damage some. Make it a three shot then maybe slow down the reload a little, but not to much.
-
Every single person is using Mida in IB right now. It's hilarious.
-
Only thing i suggest is the Mida's rof be nerfered by the smallest bit like .005 reduction. That's it
-
That's what makes it exotic
-
TL;DR I think Mida is fine. I get killed by it really fast in PVP all the time. Guess that means it's working!! Now if I can only figure out a way to get people to use something else my kd might go up!
-
I don't use MIDA. I also think you're wrong.
-
I know this might be hard to explain, but there is a thing called information bias. Which basically means some people don't know midas is crazy stable, has excellent perks and works for a wide range of playstyle. By you posting this you actually propagate the information and encourage others to use it. As Midas is obtainable and you seem to think it is great, then use it. The truth is, Destiny's pvp is balanced through sub classes of weapons (like assault rifles that fire crazy fast, medium and scout rifle slow) those base attributes are then enhanced by perks. The advantage of vendor bought or exotic items is the perks are static and you are not rnging for it. Because Destiny's PVP encounter, like all pvp encounters, is primarily a burst damage check, stability perks that destabilise your opponent are top. Mida has stability, medium/far range, steady fire rate and rounds that make it harder for you to be hit. It hits like garbage, but is easy to use. Favors medium range conflicts. So, I mean it is just a gun with attributes. The hawkmoon has attributes too that are similar, in its own niche.
-
its not that mida is over powered, its an exotic, and currently there aren't many great exotics out there. Auto rifles have minimal use in crucible and aside from last word, and thorn hand cannons really aren't popular either. pulse rifles are good like bad juju but hawksaw with the right roll is as good if not better than the bad juju. So mida is pretty much the only exotic in game that is actually better than scouts any in its class which makes it seem much better. also most of your comments have more to do with the type of scout mida is so your not really saying mida is over powered your saying its class of scout rifles is.
-
Have been hardly killed by it recently. Thorn though. -blam!- thorn.
-
Interesting points and most valid but snapshot is far better then lightweight imo, that further adds to your argument too as not only is it a fast firing gun, with high magazine and reload but with snapshot when you get in to medium to close you can ads faster then most guns which is why it can be so effective in ranges it shouldn't be, add that to the perk to movement and handling with stagger rounds and yea you have a very good gun, I disagree with nerfing it though just because bungie nerfs by class not gun, so if they do nerf they will nerf the entire class, instead they should steadily boost the rest of the weapons incrementally until we reach a balance, if they keep nerfing we are just gonna have pea shooters and the only effective weapon left will be melee
-
This is the only time I would prefer bungie two buff everything else.
-
Meta set in my arse...mida hasnt changed but stupid -blam!-s like you are going to get it nerfed...ftw na...jus all crybabies in it
