This was taken from another thread, and it rings damn true. If you want this game to thrive, it has to have its player base diminish until Bungie has no choice but to either make old content relevant again, or drop some major content.

Aside from running my buddy through content and trying to get him leveled up I have almost completely ceased playing this game because it's such a disaster now.
It's another thread, it's another plea for them to make this game exciting again, but it won't happen until we speak with our consoles and play other games. Do you have to quit? Absolutely not. Do you have to find other games to play? You absolutely do. They will never stop a business practice until the current practice fails.
EDIT: It was brought to my attention that DeeJ has edited the aforementioned comment. I wonder why he did that? Could it be because he was getting flack from Bungie for telling its player base to stop playing their game? No, never, not Bungie. DeeJ is too much of a (insert comment here) to be smart enough to tell us his real feelings on the matter and how to institute change. /sarcasm

I read the original post and the gist of it was exactly that. I read elsewhere that this SBMM shit was not communicated to everyone, including other dev teams inside Bungie so my guess is DeeJ not even being a dev knew nothing about it. Maybe it was just something he wrote in a moment of frustration. I mean, how can you communicate between your company and the fans if your company is not telling you everything. In any case, he is right. Don't play their game, don't give them money. That's the fast lane to make pompous pricks like Lars eat a big slice of humble pie and realize they're nothing if no one gives a rat what they are doing. I stopped playing around last week or so. SBMM really was what tipped me over. Coming home from work and having to play a game where every match feels like a tournament final was just too much. Someone needs to walk up to this Lars dude and teach him what the definition of a general public game session is as opposed to a competitive setting. I still care so I still post, but if The Division pans out I off until D2.

Maybe it was edited because it was taken the wrong way? They take data from everything if no one plays a part of the game they can tell it's unpopular. It's why certain products get cut while some become huge points of advertising. What they are saying is if you don't like it don't play it. Would you specifically eat a flavor of chips you know you didn't like then keep eating them as you cry about how you dont like them? No, No one does that.

Basically? No he said play what you enjoy and submit positive feedback. You can infer that if one does not enjoy Destiny, then they shouldn't play it, but also submit constructive criticism. In essence, he's saying help make it better through active communication. Simply walking away would not improve Destiny.

I love the glimpses of amazingness that destiny can be. Enough so that even though I haven't played the game in months I still get on the forums from time to time to see if anything notable has changed. I stopped playing because grinding the same content or running the only relevant raid to gain new gear started to make me feel like an asshole. So with that said, Deej is full of shit. Even if you don't agree with OPs summation of Deej's statement. The fact is you can post thousands of comments and threads about something obvious that needs to change and you're not going to see it happen in this release of the game, maybe in destiny 2, but not this current game. It took the devs over a year to implement sparrow racing into the game, when people had been asking why it wasn't included since launch. People asked about this for so long that people just stopped carrying. And when did the devs finally implement it? A year after releas, coincidentally coinciding with the release of a major titlee(fallout 4) that threatened they're player base leaving the game. From launch Deej has been saying for players to keep letting them know what you want to see or change and that they're listening. Despite that simple improvements that people asked for from day one those issues never got addressed or even given an explanation as to why those changes can't be made.

You fanboys can bash the OP all you want, but when I read the ORIGINAL DeeJ reply on Sunday morning I took it exactly like the OP did. Out of the two major reply posts DeeJ made I took them as: 1) We are switching up IB to gather data whether you like it or not. Join a clan or use LFG you solo losers. and 2) The best feed back you can give us is by playing what you enjoy. If you do not like something, do not play it. Oh yeah, and sending your "ideas" about Destiny to a recruitment forum is the best way to get them IGNORED by Bungie since we know that no one there hardly plays this game let alone uses a recruitment forum to find players.

I think you are misconstruing deej's point. He's not saying to stop playing destiny. He's saying that he wants people to love to play destiny, and for us to continue to let them know how to make it better.

It took Blizzard firing their original game director before notable changes were ever made. Diablo 3 has gone nowhere but up IMO since this happened. I'm not saying anyone needs to get fired over this, but something has got to give. Oh, and I do not agree with your title. Too much of a stretch to pull that conclusion from his comment.

I stopped also but only to do the nightfall with friends, that's all. The only disaster I can see in it is the amount of weapons we have to choose from, RNG, and lack of content of course.
