yeah, elo rating is based on wins. it compares your teams avg elo to your opponents avg elo
and it's per playlist, so I definitely think that's more relevant than k/d

There are sites which will calculate your elo (or other measures). These don't seem to do it based on individual events so they can only be used as a rough guide Also I don't know whether Bungie calculates it for each character separately. How someone does with their main might be completely different from how they do with one of the other classes
