So, an idea that has been long overdue has occurred to me: what if, it were possible to get a loot item as a reward for killing a boss a certain number of times as part of a bounty?
Crazy right?
But hear me out on this, I know I am not the only one who has been gypped by the RNG system currently in place. So why should someone get max light level gear on their first run when you are on your 15th and only had a 319 drop once as your best item? The answer? They shouldn't, but it should still be possible. And the more times you defeat a boss, the better your chances should be of getting better gear. But, you should still have a way to get good gear, even if RNG is not in your favor. The chest after oryx was an attempt at this, although severely flawed, since it can still come up empty after you put your 20 shards in.
That is why I suggest the implementation of a bounty system that the player can pick up in the tower, where they can pick up to 3 items a week from the raid to be received at the highest light level possible for their difficulty. The bounties could involve multiple steps like "to obtain a ghost, clear the Totems check point and go on 20 scan patrol missions within a week" others might have you do things like kill a certain number of enemies on story missions, or defeat an ultra using only melee attacks, but they would still all require some part of the raid to be completed as well.
Anyway, let me know what you think about a system like this, and feel free to leave feedback for improvement as well.
ps. bring back reforging for raid weapons as well bungie
