Recently i was called an elitist when doing a raid with an lfg team. When forming the team we had 5 318+ guardians and one of them suggested his lowly 309 friend to fill the last spot. Myself and another teammate showed our displeasure in having a low light character join us as we know for a fact that people who are 318+ are skilled and people below 310 are not.
Against our better judgement we let this player in. After 5 attempts on warpriest with the same 309 dying we finally passed it any moved on to golgoroth. There this player died alot. And then when i asked why are you dying all the time to him and that maybe you should raise your level to 315+ before doing a hard raid he snapped back at me you are an elitist.
I dont know why he called me an elitist. Maybe it was because i was staying alive and he was dying alot. Then he said that those requirements arent needed to beat hard mode and that is elitism because i have a higher light than him.
I am not an elitist but i do believe that one player is better than another based entirely on his gear. Its not my fault that he isnt skilled enoughto get to 315+.

Edit: we were wiping after the guy in the video missed grabbing the gaze causing most of the team to get wrecked.

I did the hard raid at 304 and was outplaying most of my team that was higher leveled and all that stupid stuff. I was also the one random and they griped about my level. We flew through that raid so fast and said that they'd never gone through it that fast. Sounds like you just had an incompetent player. 309 or 320 I'm sure he would have been bad
-
You're a special kind of stupid

I completed hard mode at 307. By the end I was @ 311. Every boss drop raised my light level pretty much immediately. I died first at the sisters. Light level should not be an immediate reference of skills. Elitist players will kick, reject or complain a lot when a low light level joins their fireteam for whatever reason. I'd say more than elitists high light level players could be or not huge jerks. A low light level player may slow down their speedy run. A low light level may make more difficult completing a challenge mode. Usually I think high light level players are dicks because they are in the raid to get those two or three missing 320 light items. So they want a quick run to get to it and see if end will give it. It's understandable I guess however they should not be jerks dick elitists if they accept taking a low light level player in the fireteam. Just say no to the low level guy if what they want is a speedy run with high light level skill players.

Nice bait, everyone knows gear does not determine skill. My last hard KF raid, nobody was above 318 and we had a 302 and 297. We finished all but Oryx (because not enough time to continue). BTW Mobius is better.
-
I do hard mode at 310 on average. Use random different builds with the armors and weapons to keep it fresh. I have never had a problem with the raid. It's not hard. OK might need one or two more rounds on war priest and golo. But that's easy if you know what you are doing. Having a light level requirement is pointless. People I play with have a higher light than me down to one aspect. Rng. Your asking players to join you on rng. If it's his mate he can say if they can handle their own. Ask him that if yes then why not. This is just you being a cry baby and want other people with a high light level to hide you imperfections. So you can have an easy ride in a easy raid. My verdict. The game is already easy. By doing this your making it pointless play. As boring as listening to your partner complaint about their mates.

You should have been able to make it all the way to oryx with a pylon if your all 318+
-
If you're looking forth at high of a light level for a raid you're compensating for the fact that you die frequently... Anyone 308 and up should be acceptable. At the lower lvls ToM might become a must have but that's it. It really shouldn't be though.
-
Bro we are elitist and its ok<3
-
Yeah I guided 5 below 310s (my best friends) to oryx on day 1 of hard mode. Oryx is another story but damn you're just bad man. Learn to play.

Edited by AzPharizon: 1/20/2016 1:25:56 PMLol bro I did hard mode with 307 when it first came out, that guy wasn't very good but if five high light level guardians can't figure out what to do to nullify a weak party member then you guys are bad too. Why not put him near you where you can direct him? Why not put him as gaze one or two? Why not ask him what he is good at? This is your fault guardian, do better.
-
If you think you need people 318+ for the hard raid, that's your first problem right there. Skill > Light level in many cases, it sounds like you just got a bad player that happened to be a lower light level and you would've had the same result if he had been 318 as well.
-
I did hard mode the first day at 306.. So you done need to be as high as people say.. I have no problem teaching and helping people who are willing to listen. Then you come to a forum to bash the kid .. U are acting like a elitist ..Maybe he was right
-
Are you really trying to make yourself look that bad? Because you're doing a great job at it.
-
318+ doesn't make you more skilled just shows you have abit more experience or got lucky with RNG
-
This is insane and your are an elitist. I deleted all 3 characters I had and then restarted and I have all 3 characters above 315 now. Guess how I did that doing hard mode! Did you catch that? I had to do hard mode to try and get above 310. I did not die a lot, perhaps you guys had a bad strat or he sucked. However some of this community is elitist and wants 317+ which is dumb.
-
We did it last night second run with a 304 and he wasn't the one who caused the wipe. ( it was a more skilled in your eyes 319 who didn't get out with unstable light) Did you put him at gaze 2 and leave him outside the pit? This should be what an experienced or "skilled" as you put it raid leader should do to negate the low light level.
-
Yes RNG awarded loot makes you better at the game. After a year people still banging on like this......
-
You are the definition of an ELITIST.
-
Sounds like elitism to me bro. In all honesty you only need to be 305+ up until golgoroth. You could be lower if you were a good first gaze holder. I've recently become sour to the raids due in somewhat to similar situation. I raided on my warlock last week(2nd time HM) and I'm not a fan of my warlock. 2 guys constantly died at totems. They were 314-317. We probably wiped about 4-5 times. No one said a word about. We just kept resetting doing out job and all they did was make excuses. Stating how we weren't killing knights or wizards and they'd kill them. My wizards were always down and no knight I saw got past the brand podium. Then we get to the war priest challenge. I died twice with aura; once on right due to an adept not being killed(1st phase), and once in middle due to warpriest not being staggered in time(2ndphase.) My friend died once and another random died. The two very same guys who where dragging out totems wouldn't shut up about how it isn't hard and if they had it they wouldn't have died. Most of the deaths were due to one of them slacking in their role. Same damn thing happens to golgoroth. I had to leave and in all honesty haven't even felt like raiding this week. I assume Friday I will on my Titan but man if that wasn't one of the worse if not worst raid experience I've had. I'm also comparing this to the 7-8times I've made it to oryx and not beat him.
-
It isn't hard to be skilled in PvE. Stop riding your own dick.
-
You say that you are skilled but you couldnt 5 man war priest or golgorth you arent skilled you suck my team of 312+ carried a friends 294 titan up to daughters before getting off for the night (it was 3 in the morning)
-
I already quitting destiny because i keeping get kicked by host because i am 312 on king fall hard mode but i already got ToM and hard mode gear also i got group chat yesterday ask for nightfall need 310+ :/
-
lol what a twat, all charaters under 0.9 K/D, you have no skill! 319 light doesnt make you good at PvP huh? As for PvE, ran black spindle mission with two guys from a clan, both 312, couldn't get it done because they were terrible, they didn't know what to do at all. So ran it again with two people from this forum, one was 294, one 295, i think i was 296, we done it first try easy. Moral of the story (since your an idiot), light level does NOT show skill level. Elitists like you are assholes and are exactly what is wrong with this 'community'.
-
Edited by I Rap Monster I: 1/20/2016 2:50:08 PMI'd like to think I'm not bad <.< but because when I got the right stuff on I'm not even close to 315+ so by your standards I'm bad <.< (I'm 297 and finally get to do the raid this weekend, it will be my first time doing it.)
-
Lightlevel /=/ skill. I'm 307 at max and still survive longer and play better than most 315+ players. For example, a random asked me to join him for nightfall last week, but booted me because I was 305. I then proceded to solo nightfall and finish before him. First time I soloed one too!

Elitism a problem in gaming
