Elitism a problem in destiny...
Recently i was called an elitist when doing a raid with an lfg team. When forming the team we had 5 318+ guardians and one of them suggested his lowly 309 friend to fill the last spot. Myself and another teammate showed our displeasure in having a low light character join us as we know for a fact that people who are 318+ are skilled and people below 310 are not.
Against our better judgement we let this player in. After 5 attempts on warpriest with the same 309 dying we finally passed it any moved on to golgoroth. There this player died alot. And then when i asked why are you dying all the time to him and that maybe you should raise your level to 315+ before doing a hard raid he snapped back at me you are an elitist.
I dont know why he called me an elitist. Maybe it was because i was staying alive and he was dying alot. Then he said that those requirements arent needed to beat hard mode and that is elitism because i have a higher light than him.
I am not an elitist but i do believe that one player is better than another based entirely on his gear. Its not my fault that he isnt skilled enoughto get to 315+.

Edit: we were wiping after the guy in the video missed grabbing the gaze causing most of the team to get wrecked.

You're skewing it to make it look worse than it was. He was obviously wiping because everyone els but you was dead before him.. Yeah, your radar shows 4 already dead when he died.

Ive helped my 307 mate out since release of ttk wen he upgraded console, and i run in lfg raid teams with u der 310 light as it only matters at sister/oryx. But ive grinded to get to a decent light snd if people want to run a smooth run and smash it out in an hour or less you cant really blame em!

3 RepliesAgreed higher light level fireteam raids tend to go alot smoother but higher light doesn't necessarily equate to higher skill - reason is RNG, challenge mode has guaranteed 320 drops but still kinda random - as far as you being an elitist, it depends on how you conveyed your concerns but you do sound pretentious

That's the player skill, it has nothing to do with light. He called you am elitist because everyone else was high light and he was the only low one and the only one you talked to. But you shouldn't have been reluctant in the first place, a my hm requirements are always 300, and if I have a further checkpoint past golgo, it's 305, and if I'm having any trouble it's because of lag, or a higher light player dying.

2 RepliesA friend of a friend joined us in Nightfall a few weeks ago & wouldn't shut up about how he was 320. He wanted to make sure we saw it & everything. Very annoying. The guy seemed to live/breathe only Destiny. The above is an elitist. You are not.

You sound like an elitest to me. 309 should be fine. I ran it at 305 with no issues. The Oryx fight was easier at 310+ though.

You can't let one person represent an entire group of people. My Hunter is one Light away from reaching 318, yet I am not anymore "skilled" than I was as a 308.

Golgoroth is 310 and Warpriest is 300. He was just a bad player it had nothing to do with his light.

Light doesn't =Skill. My highest light is 319 when raiding. During PVP I drop to 310. If you need 6 318+ to run the raid GG. No skill at all sir

No, how good you are is not based on armor, it's based on skill. I know plenty of people who are amazing at destiny but don't have the time to grind for gear so they stay at a low light.

I'm not sure what you expected when you posted this bullshit, but if the responses below are any indication, you're an asshole, and you suck on top of it. My buddies and I ran the whole HM raid and did the Oryx challenge a couple weeks back with a 308 in the party. I've run multiple hard mode raids with players below 310. I once even had a 296 player, and we completed the whole raid. Only wiped a couple times on Oryx. Point being, if you can't make it through the raid without everyone in your fireteam being 315+ then you suck and everyone you play with sucks. Oh, and with that 143,000 medal score, you're not one to call anyone 'bad.' I'm not even a hardcore PvP player, and mine is way higher than that.

If your fireteam was any good, you would have carried that 309 through hard mode with no wipes (ok 1 wipe max). Your behavior was elitist. Light level has nothing to with skill. It DOES have a little bit to do with experience. But all things being equal, the lowest light level character is more likely to die first, because he takes more damage and deals less damage than the other players. That's obviously the weakest link. But that's not necessarily an issue of skill. If anything it's an issue of experience, or your fireteam is not delegating tasks appropriately.

However, it IS extremely elitist of you to just assume to anyone under 310 just isn't good. This kid obviously wasn't good, but I'm sure there are plenty of players at his same level that are just plain better than him. I've never done a raid in this game, so obviously I'm stuck at the 290-295 range. But what about people who have done the normal raid and are just unlucky with their drops? Does that mean they're terrible players? No. It means they just have shitty luck. And frankly, you're truly a dunce because at some point, YOU were a lowly 309 or below when you went into the hm raid to get better gear. So yes, you're an elitist and an asshole.

I feel you on that, I'm sure you'll be getting a lot of hate. I'm 319 on all my characters, have 320 weapons. Why would I want to raid with anyone less than 315?? I make sweaty posts with requirements , guess who are the only ones to complain? I got 2 raids done in a couple hours last night . Got off and was able do other things I enjoy. I got nothing against any guardian under 315. I just have other shit I want to do and don't feel like helping your 308 guardian through the raid. There are other groups out there willing to spend hours in the raid. Go there. It's called recruitment forums for a reason .

I did the hard raid at 304 and was outplaying most of my team that was higher leveled and all that stupid stuff. I was also the one random and they griped about my level. We flew through that raid so fast and said that they'd never gone through it that fast. Sounds like you just had an incompetent player. 309 or 320 I'm sure he would have been bad
