Faction Civil War: Idea for Destiny Future

Some factions I believe are more or less crucial to the Destiny story. Not saying you can't remove them or change them, but if you were to, it would need to be the result of Bungie specifically crafting the story in that direction. Factions like Vanguard, Crucible (Also IB/ToO), Cryptarch, Gunsmith, Crotas End, etc. However some factions while a part of the Destiny story, offer different viewpoints on the situation, making their situation a bit more flexible to the community. Dead Orbit New Monarchy Future War Cult I think a cool idea for an event to close out Year 2 of Destiny (if Destiny is going to have a big story development in the next iteration) is to have some sort of Civil War among the factions. Not necessarily all bloodshed (although that could develop). Essentially, have an event where by the end, one of these 3 factions is victories, one gets by to see another day, and one dissolves as a result. The event could be a long one (a month). Factions could gain standing over others by having: - More characters pledge allegiance to their faction - More materials donations to a faction - Completing special Quest lines for each faction (ie. kills with faction weapons, activities completed while wearing faction armor, etc.) - Online promotions/events/social media (can be dubbed as Faction propaganda, etc.) - 1 Story Mission for each Faction, which on completion each week earns you faction gear and points for faction - Special Strike which has 3 possible outcomes, determined by player action, benefiting one faction over the other. Special Crucible Game Mode: Civil War - 4 v 4 v 4 - Teams of 4 are put into teams based on their faction allegiance - Points are distributed to each faction based on placement at end of match - Could be Clash-style, or Control style with each faction having their own zone/spawn. - If a server supports more than 12 players, you can add 1-2 non-allied Guardians (Vanguard/Crucible only) who rotate teams throughout the match based on performance from other teams (ie. capturing zones or collecting a special crate or relic) Also, non-allied Guardians (who support only Vanguard/Crucible) could participate in various ways as well - Playing the Civil War mode as a neutral (if possible) per above. - Assist friends in completing Missions/Strikes. - Have their own unique set of Crucible and Vanguard quest lines only available to neutral players. There would also be a few story missions that are neutral that anyone can play, including non-allied players, which don't influence the civil war. All of these activities would be worth a various number of points and percentages, which could be tracked in the Tower and online. When the dust settles at the end of the event: 1.) The winning faction will have a minor facelift to their base of operations in the Tower, and will be strongly regarded as the winner of the faction war in Destiny 2's lore and shape the story a tad. 2.) The runner-up faction will maintain its appearance in the Tower, and will continue to be present in Destiny 2, being considered as survived the faction war in lore. 3.) The losing faction will feature a downgrade to appearance in the Tower, and will be dissolved by Destiny 2's story and lore. That said, you might be able to earn relics of the days of the faction in Destiny 2. Ultimately no matter what faction places where, I feel like it doesn't need to shape the core story of Destiny 2 drastically, but it certainly can be a moment of "Hey, we SHAPED this world" which I feel like has been lacking in Years 1-2. What do you guys think?
