I'm trying to pick the brains of people who regularly use LFG for Trials as I find Stats and Emblems a nightmare to Navigate. I have a clan but they don’t like trials as much as I do so I’m often playing the forum lottery to find cool teams for competitive runs.
Personally I tend to avoid teams who demand an emblem or threaten to kick for certain things more because I find emblems are a bit pretentious and anyone who threatens to kick tend to be a bit of an idiot and not someone I want to spend an hour listening to.
Can anyone explain to me what ELO is in layman's terms and what its significance is? https://guardian.gg/en/faq full definition
Secondly which ELO would you use? Destiny Tracker or Guardian GG?
Do you think DTR Level is important? If so why?
What is the minimum K/D you would accept in your teams?
Do you scrutinise stats / weapons / sub -classes before adding or inviting someone to your team?
I appreciate everyone will have their own mechanisms for this so I am keen to hear these with a bit of substance.
I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts on whats successful for you and why

A few Edits thanks to Sazomi and others
ELO is highly based on your wins, not so much k/d.
Beat players with higher elo and it jumps about 3-8 points.
Beat players with higher elo while on a streak pass 9-0 and it jumps about 5-10 points.
Lose to players with lower elo and you get hit by about 10-20 points depending on the difference.

Its good to see this forum being so helpful and non toxic, I think that's largely because most of the people who have contributed to this still actually play the game.
Keep up the good work.,

I have had my share of LFG experiences and have definitely learned a few things that may help. 1. I have found the people demanding Emblems, ELO ratings, K/D's, ETC... TO BE SUPER FRUSTRATING TO PLAY WITH! They tend to get frustrated really quickly and start yelling, or at the least they are not a positive influence for the team. 2. If you find some guys you get along with, friend them and set up future times to play and build good teamwork. 3. Any of your existing friends that aren't super try hard PVPers, take them along for some trials runs, they may just really enjoy it and work hard to get better. I now play consistently with a guy that had a really negative K/D because he just didn't like Crucible much. It took some patience and alot of helping him understand the game, but he steadily improved and was able to make it to the lighthouse. I actually was more excited to get him there for the first time than I ever have been for my flawless runs. 4. Talk about your failures and celebrate your/your teammates successes. If you fail in a clutch moment or against a particular play style, take a minute to discuss what to do next time that happens. If a teammate pulls off a nice 1v2 or 1v3 or just makes a really smart play, let them know it! Everyone likes to have those moments and it will help build their confidence. 5. Know when it just isn't working. If you get paired up with one or two of the aforementioned angry, frustrated types, feel free to politely excuse yourself from the abuse, trust me when I say it doesn't get better with more games played. (you may not have to leave, I was once kicked after one game and then proceeded to go flawless with a couple of chill LFGers right after that)

Generally look for others with positive kd most of the time 1.2 or higher then their elo off trials report 1500 and above use usually good to go. Works out pretty well I've been flawless 30x in year two and it's always with randoms
-
Typically I look for this: 1 + Million Medal Score 1.3 + Trials K/D Another weird thing I look at is the persons name. Typically you can tell how well a person plays by there name, for example: SquishyPandas123 Invited you to play Destiny Umm no.

I only really run the bounties with some chill people. I'm not the greatest pvp player so I just really don't see why I would put myself through trying flawless.
-
The way I operate is by looking for around a 1 kd or higher then seeing how good my team mates are at communication, with guns I see what they're good with then give recommendations on what they should use if I think I might have a better option for them

I've found those who seek a particular emblem is asking for the equivalent of "which trendy article of clothing are u rocking?" And for those asking for k/d is like asking "how many points/stats in your basketball game?" If those stats r good, this usually asks for a carry to the lighthouse. I've always preferred finding randoms who are looking for bounties then complementing their play style. Usually before the heavy round you'd know if you have a cohesive team. To go flawless, you must read the "The Tao of jeet kune do". "Become like water my friend" - Bruce Lee

/invite to party chat /hey wanna go do the ToO bounties? Have a laugh? /load ToO and good times

Kd above 1 and win% above 50 anything lower and your likely to be carrying hard
-

Basically, I have to get lucky and have decent Crucible friends online. If they're all busy, I check out Competitive LFG on Destiny Tracker.
-
LFG, and I make sure their KD is higher than 1.1
-
Don't do it.
-
Forums aren't good it's best to add some good people from crucible at most

Edited by TheGreat: 1/21/2016 1:08:18 AMI log onto my ps4 and get invited to group chat, eventually someone will ask if I'm up for ToO, which I respond "not a -blam!-ing chance" Then I enjoy playing anything else knowing I didn't waste hours of my life against some sweaty try hards. Edit It used to end where I'd say yeah, but I learned not to bother
-
I've got a team to run with but I also like to help out those who aren't very good at trials.
-
Edited by Deorant: 2/13/2016 6:00:40 AMI go by relaxed players and who can hold their own. I've been with really bad lfg groups and some really good ones. The groups I've gone flawless with have all been relaxed and laid back until about the last 3 or so wins we need then we get sweaty.

Edited by stooooned42069: 1/21/2016 1:53:14 AMELO and KD don't really mean much. It's a report of what you've done; not how well you can do, nor what your best has been. I play with many different people with a wide range of skill levels, on good days and bad days. By not boosting and constantly try harding, most of my non-objective stats aren't anything to go on about. At the same time, I got to play Smoke 420 n crew in ToO a few weeks back (we lost 5-2, one teammate gave up before it started..anyway..), but it was a great match and I managed to go 7-7 against him while playing basically 2v3. Long story short, underestimating a 0.9 KD will get you blink/shotty'd in the face.

Edited by Sixclicks: 1/20/2016 2:50:38 PMI don't. I play with friends I know, but since they don't really play anymore I no longer do Trials. Personally I don't care for ELO because it's so heavily win based and based on who you end up against. If you consistently end up against players with a lower ELO than yours, then you'll never really get anywhere with it. I suppose if you were only looking at Trials ELO it could be okay, but overall ELO is bad imo as it will inevitably be mediocre if your a solo player such as myself who has to deal with random terrible teams (I mostly play Control). Then again, it doesn't really matter for me anyway since I no longer do Trials. Since I haven't done Trials in Y2, I don't have a Trials ELO. My ELO is top 10% Platinum 2 on Destiny Tracker or 1354 on guardian.gg. I'd still consider k/d the more important stat. Especially Trials k/d. Plus you gotta have a mic.

I usually help friends do bounties than look for two sweaties too run with. Right now im actually banned until the 28th because another team reported me for using a sniper..
-
Look for post that say: "Need 1 for trials" "Wanna have fun in trials" "Doing bounties" "Casual" Avoid "Sweaty tryhards" "Must have emblem" "Must have gone flawless x many times"
-
My clan. I don't use lfg. Annoying to play with people your not used to doing PvP with
