Helping a 301 kill Oryx - A positive story.
I helped a 301 beat HM Oryx today.
The rest of the fireteam were above 310, so I was expecting a relatively painless run. We ran the 8 and 8 strat and I had the guy take plate 2. That way both myself, and the guardian on plate 3 could kill both our own knight [i]and[/i] his.
The first 3 rounds went by smooth as butter. However, one of the 2 Titans on ogre duty got killed by the 3rd shade of Oryx. We managed to salvage the situation, eventually detonating the remaining 8 orbs and successfully dropping Oryx's health. The 301 cheered audibly. We could tell he was pretty excited.
Just as Oryx was moving to the front, I realised that our low level friend hadn't really done anything. He didn't help kill his ogre. Didn't even try to snipe his knight. He barely touched the shade at all. He just sat on his plate, his mouth watering at the thought of that tasty loot..
So right before we stagger Oryx for the last time, sending the father of Croat floating off into oblivion, I reported him for being unhelpful and booted him from the fireteam. I figured he didn't really earn the rewards, and by letting him claim them, he'd just want to be carried again.
There are already too many high level players that still know relatively little about the raid. I'd rather not add to the problem. As an experienced raider, I feel it is the duty of high level guardians to ensure that only deserving players reach our ranks. With great light comes great responsibility.

Take low level players but make sure they know to help with ogres and where their knight spawns. You must at least try to pull your weight

So why did you take him along in the first place?? Just to be a dick and tell yourself how good you are for being able to get thru with a 301. Then try to spin it into you doing something positive for the community? You're a dick bro. All you gotta do is just not take the 301 in the first place.

4 RepliesWho ever is saying that he's a douche for doing that literally needs to chill. I help people with KingsFall Normal/Hard week after week. After so many you start to think why am I wasting my precious time helping someone that doesn't want to learn the raid? Or someone who doesn't even try to help your teammates kill whatever target it is at the time? That's straight up people wanting to get carried & get their loot without giving 2 fudges. I love helping people. Keyword: Helping. Not Carrying! I don't mind helping those who put their effort to learn the raid mechanics & who try their all. For those who don't even want to learn the raid & just want to get carried stop wasting other people's time & don't raid, simple. It's a damn Raid. Requires working together & communication! well, you sent that one around the bend, soon enough it will come back around twice as hard. Hopefully it's something in your real life that comes back to bite you, bed bug infestation perhaps? that'd be fitting. simply staying alive at that low of light in hard mode is a minor accomplishment itself. you could've provided guidance/instruction so that he could be of some help. he may not be able to outright quickly kill an ogre or knight, but he could get some pot shots on them. did you attempt to instruct him to do anything constructive, or just sit there and quietly plan your evil plot? I see your post about quitting right away on a squeaker too, which is more understandable, but what makes you such an all important piece of Destiny god-hood? some day really bad things are going to happen to you and/or someone close to you, then maybe you'll realize that being kind and patient nets you more good experiences in life than being a self important douche. ...or maybe you'll just stay one of the real gems that continually blames the world around them for their inadequacies. 1 ReplyFirstly, how did you help him beat HM if you booted him? And since he was a 301, your fire team should have at least agreed whether or not to continue with him. Lastly, if you really wanted him to contribute as best he can you could have assigned him to ogre duty with a Titan w ToM in the middle. He's safest there and has a 310+ Titan helping him.

I'm seeing 310s that have no clue what do ever about any of the fights. Had a 317 yday that asked how you get the gaze on Golgroth. REALLY 😂 Good job sir.
