Just imagine how much more united and happy the gaming community would be if we could have all of the same stuff at the same time. Playstation users get Halo, Xbox users get the timed COD and Destiny exclusives, Titanfall appears on Playstation, Xbox gets Until Dawn as well, think about it, everyone's happy.
Because honestly, these exclusives do little more than simply slap the competition's users in the face, rarely people will change consoles for a few months of early access, or getting a single game on a different system.

This guy argued good points against timed exclusivity deals, I'm more neutral on console exclusive games but I am completely against timed exclusives that benefit nobody.
-
It needs to stop, this is coming from a Ps4 player
-
Nice points, but I wouldn't have linked that video, I like the guy who made that vid. But everyone else hates him cause he makes good points that they can't counter argue. Or they're just too stupid to see the truth

Edited by Gtjerz: 1/19/2016 12:11:13 AMit depends. in the case of titanfall, it's okay. it's an exclusive because Microsoft gave them money to actually create and launch the game. but things like timed exclusive just cause chaos between consoles. to be honest, most people think video games are stupid. I'd rather unite the entire gaming community then have all of the consoles fighting over who's better. console exclusives are meant to give the console some incentive. timed exclusives are meant to hurt the other consoles user base. there is no need for timed exclusives.
-
Actual exclusives are fine. Timed exclusives are retarded though.
-
Regular exclusives/console exclusives differentiate the consoles for the average consumer. However, I see no merit in timed exclusives.
-
Exclusives allow for a game to reach its full potential as it can maximize everything out of a single platform versus having to split development between 2, 3, or sometimes 4 platforms.
-
I just want finally fantasy vii remake on Xbox one, which actually will happen, but I wish it came out the same time as ps4..
-
I wish it wasn't a thing. But it probably always will. If everyone with a ps4 could play Halo, it's population would double.
-
Yes it should, I cried when I saw no mans sky was an exclusive, because I got so hyped for it
-
That would rock, but business is business, it's how it is :/
-
Game exclusives are fine. Dlc and content exclusives shouldn't be allowed seeing as the game costs the same so the players should be getting the same game.
-
I think console exclusives made by MS and P$ are fine. They are what help sell consoles. What needs to stop is the 3rd party bullshit. Rise of the Tomb Raider and Street Fighter 5 should be on both. Also this stuff like early map packs and extra content on one console or the other is bullshit. It's basically the publisher/ developers way of saying -blam!- YOU to half of their audience. I don't care if MS or PS pay for that extra content, when I pay for something I should get all of it.
-
Nintendo would go out of buisness
-
It should all be one platform.
-
You're suggesting the cess pool that is the gaming community has the ability to be happy and united. That wouldn't happen if Sony and Microsoft merged, we would find something else to start fights about. Tl;Dr: The gaming community is fgts.
-
Not good for competetion I'd say.
-
Well exclusives let them focus on just that one console and therefore makes it better and more refined
-
If there were no exclusives, there wouldn't really be any difference in picking consoles, it would literally just be buying whichever one your friends have, or which one has things that suit your needs better.
-
No. Without exclusives, then there would be no real competition between companies.
-
No it shouldn't be stopped
-
Timed exclusives, yes. Console exclusives, no.
-
You sound like a ps4 guy. Poor you
-
I find your idealistic optimism a refreshing breath of fresh air, in contrast to the usual cynical droll that permeates the Internet.
-
No. Why would that happen? That is how you attract people to your console. The problem comes from exclusives in multiplatform games, not console exclusives themselves. Xbox users did not pay $60 for Bloodborne. Playstation users never paid $60 for Halo. But when both consoles pay the same amount for a game and one doesn't get the same content? That's not right.

Gamers are such a diverse group that unless there is a game that appeals to everyone in the spectrum(which is practically impossible), there wont be a whole lot to link the community together. It would likely take much more than losing console exclusivity. Other factors are: -familiarity -pricing of items -accessibility
