It isn't a cheese at all IMHO. You can take two guardians and have them use their swords and the block mechanic to dispel the miasma in the totem caves on each side. That means they can just stay there on the totems the entire time without having to ever rotate.
The remaining four players (in the middle) essentially break in to two teams of two guardians (one team on each side) and the then you just pass the aura back in forth between the middle teams (usually under where the wizards spawn for cover purposes) and beat the totems real quick. Less moving parts apparently means a "cheese" now.
At the end of the day, the most strain is on the two guardians that are on the totems in the cave having to last all the cycles by themselves in that cave. Consistently killing the boomer knight, acolytes, any thrall that might sneak past the middle teams, and the occasional gold bar knight that might get through.
All and all, it is a simple way of beating it and less complicated. But the normal way is really easy obviously too.
