The cheese isn't easier unless you are carrying an uber low light guy who can sit on the left side totem.
Most people don't clear the Wizards fast enough and roll supers making orbs while staying up top

Even when I carried a 293 through HM who had only done normal once, we did the normal strat. I really don't get why so many people want to do the cheese now.

Because it is called a cheese. And I was talking about a hard mode carry

So was I. Took him through HM the same week we beat NM for the first time. Even while carrying him, he was able to do totems normally.
