So I tried the Totems cheese today...
Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.

I've done it both ways and don't ever have trouble with either method. one thing about the cheese though is that it doesn't matter if one of the "inside" people die, if you have someone who can't stay up, put them in the middle where you can compensate for them. really both methods are fine in my opinion.

Don't know the cheese. Don't care to know the cheese. The Totems are a piece of cake. Why would anyone need to cheese them? But I also think the no-knight strat is way harder. So maybe I'm in the minority thinking the normal, legit ways are the best. For KF that is. I'll cheese Crota all night long ;)

Cheese = don't have 6 people or possibly trying to help push someone through raid Normal = If whole fireteam is proficient and can hold their own; just do normal way

I don't get why anyone would say either way is faster. The timer on the brand is 30 seconds either way, death singers power is taken off by the middle plate at the same rate either way. Maybe a few seconds each transfer saved by not running as far. The same number of adds spawn and have to be dealt with either way. To me, either way seems about the same time and difficulty. Not really much of a cheese in my opinion. BUT, any member of the team being adamant about a certain strategy and refusing to go with the majority of the team would bug me too. I'm like you, whatever people want to do, I'll go with as long as it gets the job done. The only exception is I will not run relic if they want to do no knight.

The only time the cheese is hard is if the peeps In Center don't kill the ads, or atleast tell the guy on the totem that a knight got through. It takes the same amount of time either way.

1 ReplyWhy does no-one understand light still. Doesn't matter if you're 317 on totems. You don't get any advantages being above 310 until you hit oryx. But still totems cheese has far to long if a setup to be viable in my opinion.

Signs you know you're in the wrong group 1. Someone starts talking about running relic on the ship puzzle. 2. Someone offers a strat that not everyone is familiar with and is adamant about. 3. If there was a serious light requirement. Totems are easy. It just requires timing on grabbing the aura, swords, snipers, and orb production.

Our team did it twice last night in hard mode. Way faster, way easier. With most of the team up top, mopping up adds is super easy. We didn't lose a single teammate through both runs. It was amazing.

Agreed. I've had to do it twice. Both times took longer than running it normal. The 2nd time the guy that insisted the most was the one who died every round. He insisted it was others faults for his death. Knight wasn't killed. Wizard wasn't killed. Boomer wasn't killed. To many acolytes. By our 4th wipe normal he said it was easier the other way and for some reason everyone agreed. Needless to say we struggled after that all the way to oryx.

It's not a cheese. It's a different way to do it. Imo, it's harder than the normal way. A team of 317 should have been able to pull it off either way.

the cheese is harder but it is sorta fun. I did it and we had 3 hunters stay up top. I was on the bottom so when we finally came up, I promise there was upwards of 100 orbs awaiting me.

I still have no idea what this totems cheese is. I've seen the video but I still have no idea what your supposed to do. If a team can't get past the totems, chances are they aren't going to be very successful elsewhere in the raid

1 ReplyI don't like it either. Today was the first time I did it too bc people were being retarded and dying (our lfgers of course) so my friend was like enough, let's just do the cheese. Idk how the -blam!- my friend stayed alive alone on left tho lol, but I get why he wanted to do it, ppl kept -blam!-ing up the aura transfer

1 ReplyI can't see why anybody would ever wanna do it that way when the regular way is already ungodly easy. If somebody truly can't do it the normal way they have no business doing the raid in general.

I am fine standing outside on a totem alone. Let anything through. One time they let 1 yellow and 2 red through as a boomer was booming me. I handled it all. I hate LFG but everyone has quit this game.

1 ReplyEdited by franworf080: 1/13/2016 11:09:05 AMThe problem with totems is that some people does not understand that you don't need to be in the middle as FAST as you can when you get Deathsinger's power, but you need to be there as SAFELY as you can, in a reasonable time while taking care of ads. And off course, comunication...if you see knight going down, call it..if you don't kill your Wizard, call it. If you are popping a bubble on middle platform while your teammate is shooting a rocket, well, for the love of God, call it! :-D

If they wanted to do it that way and were so insistent upon doing it in that way then you're probably better off without that team. You probably wouldn't make it past Golgoroth if you stuck with them.
